On the morning of October 23, a leader of Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An) said that the police are verifying and clarifying a clip of a male student in this locality being forced to eat dirt by a group of people.

Initially, the authorities identified the victim in this incident as H.D. (a 9D student at Anh Xuan Secondary School), residing in Nam Xuan Commune, Nam Dan District, Nghe An. The group of people who forced this male student to eat dirt resided in another locality of Nam Dan District.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 22, a clip of a male student being forced to eat dirt, lasting more than 2 minutes, was shared via social media messages. Based on the posted content, at an empty lot at night, D. was forced to grab a handful of dirt and put it in his mouth and "eat it like rice". Realizing that eating dirt could affect his health, D. was hesitant and tried to refuse. However, someone in the group threatened: "Swallow it. Is it delicious? If you spit it out, I'll beat you up."

Being restrained, D. could only scoop up a handful of dirt and put it in his mouth to chew and swallow, while the group of people laughed gleefully. Some people spoke up to spare D., but the others disagreed and continuously forced the male student to eat dirt. Not only that, after finishing the first handful of dirt, D. was forced to eat the second handful of dirt. While putting the dirt in his mouth to chew, D. vomited and was given water to drink. Not only that, D. was also forced to smoke two cigarettes and "swallow the smoke".

According to the principal of Anh Xuan Secondary School, D. is in a difficult and pitiful situation. D's father had cancer and had just passed away. Sharing about the cause of the incident, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Quang, Chairman of Nam Anh Commune People's Committee said: "Initial determination determined that there was a conflict between the children over a phone."
