According to a New York Post profile, Lucy Guo learned to code when she was in second grade. While some parents may encourage their children to pursue what they love, this is not the case with Lucy Guo, whose parents are both electrical engineers. Her mother strongly advised her not to enter the tech industry, as it was difficult for women to succeed in this field.

But this did not stop the 27-year-old girl's passion for technology. Lucy Guo ended up studying computer science at Carnegie Mellon. But not long after, this girl dropped out of school to pursue the Thiel Scholarship, founded by Peter Thiel, the co-founder of PayPal. According to the doctoral student's website, this scholarship demon "gives US$100,000 to young people who want to build new things instead of sitting in a classroom".

Before co-founding Scale AI, she worked at Q&A site Quora and would become Snapchat's first female designer.

Lucy Guo left Scale AI in 2018, the year she and Wang made Forbes' under-30 list. She still holds a six percent stake in the company.

In 2019, according to Forbes, she co-founded early stage venture firm Backend Capital. In April of this year, she launched the technology startup Moment. According to its website, Moment is backed by Antifund, a venture capital fund founded by Geoffrey Woo and Jake Paul.
