Artist Linh Huyen, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen, was born in 1970. She is remembered by many Cai Luong lovers with plays such as Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem, Lady Suong Nguyet Anh, The Queen of Poetry Nom... In 2016, artist Linh Huyen followed her husband and children to Italy to settle down, she is also one of the people who actively contributes to bringing Cai Luong to the world.

Having success with many roles for a lifetime, but behind the glory, the female artist still carries an unquenchable grief, which is more than 50 years of searching for her father in vain. She only wished for one time to hug her father tightly in her arms and to know that she had a father...

Recently in the program Connectors, Cai Luong artist appeared on a trip back to Vietnam. She confided: "I have a mystery in my life, I want to find my father one day." It is known that artist Linh Huyen has been away from her father since she was 2 years old, her sister is 3 years old and the youngest brother is only 6 months pregnant. In 1972, my father left his family to go to the battlefield and has not returned since.

"My mother accepted the case that my father was gone, but for me I didn't believe it. Whether my father is still alive or dead, I still have to know where my father's body is and where it is. After completing the Cai Luong Museum, I will wholeheartedly continue my journey to find my father. Actually, I have found 5 people, 2 of whom said they were lost, 3 of whom said that they were alive but drifted somewhere, no longer on the geographical location of Vietnam. So this is a complicated and spiritual matter," Linh Huyen confided.

The female artist said that her father followed her grandparents to migrate to the South when she was 6 years old. Her mother is from Saigon, the two came together when they were young: "My mother was about 16 at that time, and my father was 18 years old. The two of them got married, my sister was born in 1969, I was born in 1970. When my father went missing, the youngest brother was in the mother's womb for 6 months. When he went missing, he couldn't find any news except the last letter he sent to his mother. The date recorded in the diary is December 23, 1972 – taking Dad to the battlefield.

My father's full name is Mai Ngoc Hao, born in 1948. My grandfather is Mai Ngoc Hoa, my grandmother is Mai Thi Ngo, and my great-grandfather is Mai Huy Ngac.

When she was in the army, her father wrote letters in his sack to ask someone to send them back to his wife to visit when the legion was moving. Now Ling Huyen still kept the diary that the two exchanged back and forth.

She said that her mother was a wonderful and very beautiful woman, so it is impossible for her father not to remember.

Talking about the intention to find her father, Linh Huyen confessed: "The mood of the child who lost his father is like a house without a roof, it is very cold and uncomfortable. In the artistic path, around 2011, I did research on paintings, there were propaganda paintings about the war and met uncles who participated in the war. I just asked about the war and told me about my father, and my uncles said that, so I had to look for it. I forged from there.

At home, my mother only thought that my father was gone, defaulted to that and advised my children not to look for me anymore. Linh Huyen herself often told her mother that she had found this and that person. My mother said that it was a fantasy, my father was gone. It keeps carrying in my mood like a flow that never stops, whenever it is lucky enough to stop, I will continue to look for it."

Talking about Linh Huyen's life without a father, the female artist was touched: "If I had all the support and teaching of a father, my father would teach my children to be tough. And Linh Huyen's sisters grew up with their mother's love and brushing, so they were also weak, but if Linh Huyen grew up to be full of father and mother, maybe she would not fail. On the road of life, when I was born, there were things that I was not strong enough, that energy was not passed on by my father. There are times when I am weak because I lack a father. That's all I thought.

My wish is that even if my father is still alive, I will try to earn it in this life, to worship, or if I see him again, I will ask for a big hug to know that I still have him. I have composed a lot of songs in my artistic life, I just think if my father is still alive, why don't you go back to your family. Maybe during the time of the stray bomb, the bullet hit his father's body, causing him to lose his memory and no longer miss his wife and children. My mother is a wonderful woman, she is so beautiful, it is impossible for her not to remember."

When Linh Huyen heard that he was still living on an island in the southern Philippines, I also imagined a situation where he was living happily with such a family with a wife and children.

Her mother said that Linh Huyen was "her father's figure", a talent that her father had that she enjoyed. Even her sister and brother said that at her father's house, she enjoyed everything. She reminded her father: "If you watch this show, remember that you are Mai Ngoc Hao and have 3 children. Originally surnamed Mai, but not allowed to marry the surname Mai, she had to rely on her mother's surname Nguyen. Mom is still there and we are still there."

Artist Linh Huyen said that when she mentioned her father, she was so moved that she cried. In life, she is very optimistic, not pessimistic. Now at the age of U60, if she comes to the end of her life as well as closes a play, she still accepts and is happy.
