Just like Steven Nguyen, Luong Gia Huy emerged after taking on the role of a villain in a movie that caused a fever throughout Vietnamese theaters on the occasion of the 2/9 holiday - "Red Rain". Not only possessing a tall appearance, Luong Gia Huy also makes the audience unable to hate.
In the Vietnamese film industry, talented young faces are increasingly attracting the attention of the audience. Besides familiar actors such as Do Nhat Hoang, Steven Nguyen, Hieu Nguyen or Hua Vi Van, the name Luong Gia Huy has recently created a lot of interest when appearing in the movie Red Rain directed by Dang Thai Huyen.
Although he didn't have much acting space, the actor still managed to leave a strong impression, becoming the focus of discussion on social networks. From that push, he continued to assert himself by participating in the new film project Blindfolded Catching Deer, promising to bring an impressive comeback.
An indelible impression in "Red Rain"
"Red Rain" is a work adapted from a novel by writer Chu Lai , depicting the tragedy of war. In the film, Luong Gia Huy takes on the role of Hoang, a lieutenant of the Da Lat Martial Arts School. This is one of the three characters of the Republic of Vietnam who has a certain role in the original work. However, due to the limited length of the film, the character Hoang does not appear too much on the screen.
However, it was that brief appearance that helped Luong Gia Huy become a bright spot. With a handsome appearance and toned muscles, he was compared by many viewers and even praised as "more impressive than Steven Nguyen" â one of the prominent faces of the young cast. On social networks, Gia Huy's image in the military uniform was quickly widely shared, accompanied by countless positive comments.
The special thing lies in the climactic scene at the end of the film. After the two main characters, Cuong and Quang, although forgiving each other, were still murdered by Thai (Quang's teammate), the audience almost drowned in grief. At that time, Hoang appeared, punished Thai and closed the story. Hoang's actions shocked because of their drasticness, but also made viewers gloating, relieving some of the frustration when the two central characters fell.
That sudden and decisive appearance helped Hoang win the sympathy of viewers, even though he was on the opposite side. This is considered one of the big pluses of Luong Gia Huy in this movie role: few lines, few acting plots but creating a strong reverberation.
From the catwalk to the big screen
Before being remembered by the audience for Red Rain, Luong Gia Huy had a long journey trying to assert himself. He came out of the Vietnam Supermodel 2015 contest, which helped him practice his professional demeanor and brave performance style. Not only in the country, in 2017, Gia Huy also represented Vietnam in the Nam Vuong Ambassador Universe contest held in Indonesia, making a mark as a potential face.
With the advantage of a model's standard appearance â a masculine, angular face, a toned six-pack body â he quickly caught the eye of many directors. Since then, Luong Gia Huy has participated in TV series and film projects such as The Last Bullet, The Heroine, The Winter Sun... Although he is not a heavy protagonist, every time he appears, he makes an impression with a strong and attractive temperament.
The image of a stylish, healthy Luong Gia Huy, exuding a confident aura has helped him become a bright face for action roles and prickly psychology. The combination of "cinematic" quality and experience performing on the catwalk is the foundation that helps him shine in many fields.
The impressive comeback with "Blindfolded Deer"
Immediately after the debut of Red Rain, Luong Gia Huy did not let the audience wait long when he quickly returned with a dramatic new project â Blindfolded Catching Deer. The film has a psychological â sensational color, exploiting the haunting story revolving around the character Trang (Thai Tra My), a real estate employee who is mentally traumatized after a heartbreaking incident.
In the journey to face fear, Trang and her lover find a remote homestay to hold on to their feelings. Here, she met Long â the homestay owner played by Luong Gia Huy. What shocked Trang was that Long looked exactly like the person who had harmed him, thereby opening up a series of tense tragedies.
Long is not just a mere villain. He was built as a symbol full of mystery: both with a strong and attractive appearance, and hiding many scary hidden corners. Besides, the appearance of Ngoc (Bich Ngoc) â the wife who always lives in patience and resignation â makes the story even more gloomy and multi-layered. From the relationship between Trang, Long and Ngoc, the film portrays the dark patches of marriage, love and the price for crime.
With outstanding appearance and diverse role-playing abilities, Luong Gia Huy promises to bring a character of Long that is both scary and attractive, making the audience unable to take their eyes off. This is also considered a big challenge, because the role requires a balance between charm and obsession, between masculine attraction and psychological darkness.
The new male god of the Vietnamese screen?
In the context that Vietnamese cinema is in need of more young, strong and capable actors, Luong Gia Huy is considered a potential candidate. He not only has the advantage of standard appearance but also shows serious investment in acting. Through each role, from action to psychology, Gia Huy tries to renew herself, avoiding falling into the cliché.
Today's audience is no longer only interested in appearance, but also requires the ability to role-play and create emotional depth. In this aspect, Luong Gia Huy is gradually proving that he can meet. His image of "muscular male god" does not stop at the outside, but is also associated with characters with clear personalities, internal struggles or drastic choices.
