"Getting rich with ghosts" script full of grit, Hoai Linh returned to cinema under scrutiny

Leading the box office, but the movie Get Rich with Ghosts, with the participation of Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh, still makes many viewers difficult to criticize, saying that the script is too hugging and lacking tight.

According to data from The Box Office Vietnam, as of 13:00 on September 3, Getting Rich with Ghosts earned 50 billion VND, maintaining the box office crown since its launch, overwhelming Hai Muoi. Director Nguyen Nhat Trung's debut film (Trung Lun) also faces many limitations in terms of script and illogical plots.

During a run away from the creditors, Lanh was struck by lightning and saw the ghost of Na (Diep Bao Ngoc) - the owner of the body that his father had just reburied earlier.

The two made a contract with each other: Na would help Lanh make mone.y, in return Lanh had to help her find her lost daughter since she fell in love. However, Lanh is only allowed to earn a maximum of 30 million VND per day, if it is exceeded, the lives of his relatives will be in danger. In another development, debts piled up, causing Lanh father and son to become aggressive.

Getting Rich with Ghosts has a script quite similar to that of Thai comedy thrillers: the first half focuses on the comedic element, then exploits the emotional aspect. Returning to the bi.g screen for the first time after the noise, Hoai Linh chose not to act. Different from the previous noisy comedy roles, he shows seriousness and genuine emotions through the character of Mr. Dao. Throughout the film, Hoai Linh impresses with tragic scenes through sad eyes, the father's helpless mood when witnessing his son getting lost.

No matter how much he scolds his son, viewers may still feel the love and pai.n on Mr. Dao's face. For the first time cooperating, Tuan Tran and Hoai Linh got along quite well in acting, from the way they talked to the expression through their eyes.

On the other hand, the film has many funny episodes from dialogues, situations to body expressions. Typically, the scene of Na fightin.g for lotter.y tickets with other ghosts or the graceful debt collections of the gypsies. The supporting characters are Diep Bao Ngoc, Le Giang, Quang Minh, La Thanh, Hoanh Phi, Binh Hung... taking on stopping at the round-shouldered level, only serving as the background for the story of Father and Son Lanh.

Even if the acting in the film is good and has a lo.t of emotions, the script line of Getting Rich with Ghosts is still not convincing because the character Lanh constantly makes many confusing and illogical decisions from the beginning to the middle of the film. Lanh is passionate about kickin.g chicken, looking for mone.y for his father to take care of the elderly. However, witnessing Mr. Dao being subjected to cruel physical impact like a chicken losing the battle because he made mone.y, Lanh still wanted to try again.

At one point, Lanh even forgot the agreement that his father's life would be in danger if he earned more than 30 million VND a day, when he asked Na to win a high lotter.y prize, showing that the director was quite embarrassed in portraying Lanh as a filial or unfilial son.

There are many other moments that make the audience slip away from the movie. That's every time Lanh plays chicken kicks, he constantly ruffles and runs away every time he loses.

Or at the beginning of the movie, the witch Na shows off her ability when she can appear anywhere, control the door remotely, but later run for air, struggling with other ghosts to win lotter.y tickets.

Getting rich with ghosts is intertwined with a series of problems about mone.y, illness, family affection, spirituality... Therefore, the twist at the end of the film is not really convincing, the audience still does not understand what the film focuses on.

Despite choosing a beautiful shootin.g background, round-shouldered acting, and drawing the audience's tears with father-son affection, Getting Rich with Ghosts is still entangled in the "car crash" of Vietnamese cinema, which is a script that hugs too much with illogical episodes instead of creating a complete whole.

If you do this step well, Getting Rich with Ghosts will create a good effect like Thailand's Charming Humanity before.

However, Getting Rich with Ghosts is not so amateur that it is as disastrous as many horror movies such as Hysterical Virus, Charming Ghost, Zombie Isle... Because of the editing, the setting is quite well-thought-out.
