According to data from Box Office Vietnam, as of noon on August 24, the movie "Red Rain" earned 84 billion VND in revenue after 2 days of official release in theaters and early screenings and pre-booking.
With this achievement, the film surpassed "Tunnel" (first day revenue of 30 billion VND), becoming the war-themed film with the highest opening revenue in the history of the Vietnamese box office.
On the first day of release, August 22, the film was scheduled for more than 4,000 screenings.
Currently, the film's pre-booked tickets have reached 209,679 tickets/4,628 screenings.
"Red Rain" rose to the top of the box office, surpassing "Demon Slayer: Infinity War" - a Japanese film that held the top spot for a week. Meanwhile, "Shin - Crayon Shin-chan" held the third position in the rankings.
In the early screening with the media from August 18, the movie "Red Rain" received many compliments.
Immediately after that, the film became a hot topic of discussion on forums and social networks. Many viewers commented that the film "touched the hearts of viewers".
During the week from August 12 to August 18, the film topped the social trend chart with nearly 169,000 discussions.
The film was directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, inspired by the 81 days and nights of heroic fighting by the people, cadres and soldiers to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972. The film was directed by the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense, chaired by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
The work not only reflects the brutality of war but also depicts the feelings of soldiers.
Released at a time when the whole country is gearing up for the holiday, the film is expected to continue to reap huge box office revenue.
Not only the movie, the soundtrack of Red Rain also caused a fever.
Accordingly, Pain in Peace is a turning point music project in Hoa Minzy's career, associated with the movie Red Rain by director Dang Thai Huyen.
The song was composed by musician Nguyen Van Chung, written from the perspective of a heroic Vietnamese wife and mother, the silent figures in the rear, who turned their own pain into strength for the whole nation.
During her visit to Quang Tri on July 27, Hoa Minzy met Vietnamese Heroic Mother Dao Thi Vui, whose husband and only child both died on the battlefield. Her motherâs story left her deeply moved, urging the singer to carry out a worthy project to pay tribute to the women who suffered unspeakable losses.
From this opportunity, Hoa Minzy accepted to participate in the film Red Rain, playing the role of secretary of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam's negotiating delegation at the 1972 Paris Conference. The image of a young, determined girl declaring "The Citadel Front still holds firm!" gave her a direct experience of spiritual strength and the price to pay for independence.
"Everyone must have had some quiet and emotional moments with the movie Red Rain, right? Hoa was lucky to play a small part, with only two lines of dialogue. But today, watching Hoa, I realized that Hoa's dialogue was at an extremely important stage. That was when Hoa's words - "Quang Tri Citadel is still holding firm, still standing firm", made the negotiation go more smoothly on our side.
And then she was inspired by Nguyen Van Chung's composition. In just one night, after listening to the song, Hoa Minzy decided to start making the MV "Noi Dau Giua Hoa Binh". For her, this is not only a music project but also a spiritual promise to the heroic Vietnamese mothers.
Hoa Minzy calls this the "most expensive" MV of her career. Not only in terms of cost, but also in terms of rare privileges: film sets, tanks, guns and bullets... from the Red Rain film crew, elements that are hard to find in any Vietnamese music MV. This helps the music story become cinematic, authentic and powerful.
In the studio, Nguyen Van Chung witnessed the moment when Hoa Minzy sang to the climax and then burst into tears. Not only the singer, but the entire crew also shed tears. For them, Pain in Peace is not simply a song, it is a state of mind, but music that touches the deepest part of the nation's memory.
The moment the wife gives birth and the husband sacrifices in the MV is considered a symbolic highlight. It reminds us of the fierce trade-off: peace does not come by itself, but is paid for with blood and tears. "Independence is exchanged for blood and bones/ Peace is exchanged for how much pain?", the lyrics are like a reminder for everyone today to cherish the life they have.
