The People's Army Cinema will organize a free screening of the film 'Red Rain' at Quang Tri Citadel and cinemas to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs and thank the people for lending the film crew land to make a film set.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province said that the unit will coordinate with the People's Army Cinema (under the General Department of Politics, Ministry of National Defense) to organize a free screening of the film Red Rain at Quang Tri Citadel to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.
As planned, at Quang Tri Citadel, the film will be shown at 7:30 p.m. on September 4 with an LED screen set up in front of the citadel yard with full equipment of speakers and projectors.
The guests included representatives of local leaders, families of war invalids and martyrs in Quang Tri Ward and people living near Quang Tri Citadel.
On September 5, there will be two more screenings at 9:30 and 1:30 p.m. at Rio Cinemas (Vincom Plaza Dong Ha) to serve the leaders, the localities that have coordinated with the People's Army Cinema to make films and the people in Tich Tuong and An Don villages (Quang Tri Ward) - the places that lent the film crew land to build a film set.
On September 5 or the morning of September 6, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province and the People's Army Cinema continued to organize the screening of Red Rain at the Quang Tri Provincial Cultural Center (Dong Hoi Ward), inviting representatives of leaders and officers of units in Quang Tri province to watch the film.
During this time, the People's Army Cinema will send a working group to coordinate the screening of the film Red Rain with a duration of 124 minutes.
"The department will coordinate and prepare technical, logistical and security conditions so that the film screenings take place carefully and safely," said Mr. Le Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri province.
In the historic September of the 80th National Day, Red Rain is truly a Vietnamese cinema blockbuster with a large budget and huge resources, bringing worthy frames as well as touching moments.
If we compare Red Rain with war films of state cinema in the 20th century, there will be a certain difference. Because the emotions in the films of the previous period were very intense and came from people who came out of war.
The hurt and loss in that generation of cinema were very real, but the current generation makes films from a different mindset, with a touch of nostalgia and gratitude.
During the 17th Parallel, when the Ben Hai River became a temporary military demarcation line dividing the country, many families had relatives living under two regimes. But the revolutionaries determined that this was not a personal matter of any one person but "a matter of one village, one country".
Parallel 17 Days and Nights builds two characters on opposite sides of the battle line that have become monuments of Vietnamese cinema: Ms. Diu (Tra Giang) and Tran Sung (Lam Toi). They were friends since childhood, growing up in the arms of Vietnamese mothers, but because of different ideals, they became enemies. When Ms. Diu was active in the revolution, Tran Sung captured and brutally tortured her while she was pregnant.
In Red Rain, the way two young men confront each other on two fronts is the "balance" that keeps the film stable, according to director Dang Thai Huyen, is "a balanced counterbalance of spirit, ideals and strength".
If Cuong (Do Nhat Hoang) sets out for the ideal of protecting the Fatherland, Quang (Steven Nguyen) leans toward youthful ambition and competitiveness.
They were both excellent young men with many good qualities, and if it weren't for the war, they could have been good friends. They faced each other fairly on the battlefield, although as an officer, Quang had more power than the student who "put down his pen and went to war".
In Red Rain, one can see the inheritance of the great war film genre. For example, the epic quality, although not too strong, as well as the story line and character building, especially the fate of the key characters.
Therefore, the film is quite predictable and has some relatively old details. For some audiences who are familiar with war films, especially masterpieces that move the heart, they will find Red Rain not too new or emotional.
But for the majority of audiences, Red Rain will be a work that is just right, epic and satisfying enough to be respected and also emotional enough to make tears fall many times. This is a film not to cry, to sob, but to be moved, to reflect, to reminisce and to be grateful.
