Information published in the Daily Mail, in February 2022, a woman named Catherine Herring, 39 years old, began to see her husband - Mason - a lawyer working in the city of Houston - showing unusual symptoms. After nearly a decade of marriage, her husband Mason suddenly said he wanted to break up.

Catherine also once caught Mason texting a woman who was a former colleague of his, with whom he said he had broken off contact. When pressed, Mason said he needed to take care of business and move out.

"He started acting strange and wouldn't tell me what was going on," Catherine confided to Daily Beast reporters. At that time, the couple had two children together and Catherine was pregnant with their third child. Mason once expressed that he was not happy with the appearance of this third child.

Mason agreed to spend spring break with his family. One morning, he brought Catherine a cookie and a glass of water while she was lying in bed, asking her to eat them all before he left for work.

One day in April, Catherine called two friends because she suspected she had been drugged. Both friends saw something floating in a drink that Mason brought to Catherine. On April 24, Mason cleaned out his truck and took the trash out, an action that his wife found unusual.

"This is really unusual, because Mason is not a person who does housework," Catherine said. When Mason left the house, Catherine went to the trash and saw boxes of medicine called 'Cyrux', which is a version of the American drug Cytotec, used to prevent stomach ulcers, but contains Active ingredient misoprostol.

A few days later, security camera videos showed Mason pouring a bag of white powder into a cup of cranberry juice, which he encouraged Catherine to drink immediately.

The next day, Catherine went to the Houston Police Department to report. A month later, Mason was arrested and charged with harming his pregnant wife with abortion pills. Over the past two years, Mason continuously denied the crime, but earlier this year, he had to admit to the crime of intentionally drugging his wife to have a miscarriage.
