Recently, the online community has spread a clip recording a scuffle between a girl and a tattooed young man in an apartment building's parking garage. According to the video, the tattooed young man threatened and then suddenly attacked the girl who was sitting on a motorbike.
Angered by the above behavior, the girl quickly fought back. After only a few dozen seconds of struggling, the man was restrained and lying on the ground, in front of many witnesses.
Despite being at a disadvantage, the young man remained stubborn and refused to apologize. The situation only calmed down when the apartment security guard and some other people present intervened.
Through investigation, it was found that the incident happened last May, the girl in the clip is Hoang Hang (28 years old). Hang said the incident happened when she went to her sister's gym in Thuong Dinh area, Hanoi.
When she went down to the underground parking lot, Hang encountered a strange young man. This man insulted her just because she was wearing a sports bra. "When I reacted, he approached and suddenly attacked me," Hang said.
Although she intended to ignore it and leave, the other person continued to scold her with many vulgar words. Unable to control herself, she turned back to confront him, leading to a collision. Thanks to her martial arts skills, Hang approached and controlled the other person right in the parking lot. The incident only ended when the young man was forced to apologize to the girl.
The incident left the girl with minor scratches on her face; the clip was accidentally posted by her sister a few days ago, creating a wave of attention on social networks.
Few people know that Hang is a member of the Vietnam Top Team Club, practicing Jiu-jitsu since 2021, combined with MMA . Her main job is an office worker, and martial arts is just a passion for fitness.
"When the conflict happened, I lost my temper a bit but still controlled the technique, only controlling it in a safe area to avoid injuring the opponent," Hang shared.
Despite her successful counterattack, Hang admitted that she does not encourage anyone to resolve conflicts with violence. "The clip is also a big lesson for me. Everyone should limit conflicts when going out," she said.
However, she also advised girls: "Learn martial arts, not to fight, but to know how to protect yourself if you fall into a dangerous situation."
After the clip was widely shared, many comments expressed admiration and support for the girl.
While public opinion is still talking, recently Johnny Tri Nguyen - a famous martial arts actor and currently the owner of a martial arts school in Ho Chi Minh City - posted a post that attracted attention on his personal page. At the beginning of the status, the actor sent his thanks to the girl because thanks to this situation, the three words MMA were widely spread, even humorously admitting that the promotional efforts of the entire martial arts community could not create a strong effect like the recent clip.
"From now on, our martial arts schools/clubs will probably have a few more female students. We have worked hard to organize tournaments to promote... but it's still not as good as you showing off a few moves. Now, the whole country probably knows about MMA thanks to you."
Johnny Tri Nguyen also did not forget to mock the young man in the clip: "I hope that no one will recognize you on the street in the future. That's embarrassing enough. Well, I'll give you a scholarship, not for the ability to beat women, but for the spirit of integrity, not to bully the weaker sex, of a boxer."
Lawyer Diep Nang Binh, Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, assessed the incident and found that the girl's actions were not considered a crime because this was a legitimate act of self-defense to fight back against the man's previous physical attacks.
However, attorney Diep Nang Binh also noted that not all acts of resistance are considered legitimate self-defense. Self-defense can still lead to criminal acts if it exceeds the limits of legitimate self-defense.
According to lawyer Diep Nang Binh, for women today, learning martial arts for self-defense should be encouraged and developed more. Equipping yourself with a foundation in martial arts will help increase your ability to defend yourself and deal with dangerous situations that may occur to you and those around you.
