"Professor, doctor" Ha Duy Tho famous on official social networks was fined more than 100 million VND

Recently, the Inspectorate of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has announced sanctioning decisions on administrative violations against "Professor and doctor" Ha Duy Tho who has been famous on social networks recently.

According to a source from Dan Tri newspaper, in the evening of 5/12, the Inspectorate of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced the decisions to sanction administrative violations against Mr. Ha Duy Tho (address at 671/15 Nguyen Kiem, Ward 9, Phu Nhuan District).

Accordingly, the authorities found that Mr. Tho had 4 violations. First, providing medical examination and treatment services without a relevant operating license. Second, medical examination and treatment without being granted a practicing certificate.

Third, advertising special products, goods and services without having their contents confirmed by competent agencies before implementation. Fourth, trading in goods of unknown origin and origin (Pro K products, Black Musk with the value of infringing shipments is more than 2.3 million VND).

For the above violations, Mr. Ha Duy Tho was fined VND 104 million, suspended medical examination and treatment activities of the establishment until he has a license for medical examination and treatment activities and the practitioner has a relevant practice certificate. In addition, forcibly dismantle, remove false advertisements and confiscate offending exhibits.

According to a source from Vietnamnet, earlier, on November 14, the Health Department Inspector made an unscheduled inspection at Mr. Ha Duy Tho's house. At the time of inspection, this was the house used as an unauthorized medical practice place of Mr. Ha Duy Tho and Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Thu (Mr. Tho's wife).

According to the Inspectorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health. HCMC, the house has 4 floors, the ground floor in front has 1 medical examination table and 1 reception table. Behind is the kitchen area with 1 table for food products, supplements and solution bottles branded "Dr Tho".

The house does not hang signs, is open for operation, there are patients coming for medical examination and treatment, there is no listing of the price of medical examination and treatment services, there is no updated book, no outpatient medical records of patients.

When the inspection team arrived, it was noted that Mr. Tho was examining and consulting drugs for a patient named K. Mr. K. said he sought Mr. Tho for health advice through information on social networks. Mr. Tho consulted, diagnosed Mr. K. and asked him to go to the back of the house to meet Ms. Thu to get medicine. The drug includes 6 food products, dietary supplements and bottles of unknown origin with information printed with "Dr. Tho" information for VND 4,290,000.

Checking the ads, the inspection team found that the personal Facebook page "Dr. Ha Duy Tho" advertised information about "nutritionist Ha Duy Tho" and some products.

At the table used for examination and consultation, the inspection team found that there was a "Vow before eating", OHSAWA method slip formula No. 6, formula No. 7 (macrobiotic method) with information "Dr. Ha Duy Tho". However, Mr. Tho could not present his qualifications and certificate of medical practice at the time of the examination.

Ms. Dang Thi Tuyet Thu provided the Certificate of Medical Examination and Treatment Practice No. 003365/HCM-CCHN by the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City. HCM issued on 8/11/2012 (scope of practice: medical examination and treatment by traditional medicine).

The Department Inspectorate asked Mr. Tho and Ms. Thu to immediately stop medical examination and treatment activities, selling products of unknown origin without operating licenses; Immediately stop ads related to medical examination and treatment activities without a license and without a record of confirmation of advertising content as prescribed.

Notably, on May 25, the People's Committee of Ward 9, Phu Nhuan District also inspected the aforementioned house, noted the shutdown of Chan Wu Service-Production-Trading and Distribution Co., Ltd., of which Mr. Ha Duy Tho is the director, and asked to remove the sign.

At the meeting, Mr. Tho presented that "at this address, Chan Wu Company no longer operates production and business" but admitted that "there is support and guidance on dietary methods, nutrition to treat terminal cancer according to OHSAWA method, examination without charge".

It is known that on social networks, Mr. Tho was introduced as a doctor with more than 28 years of experience in the medical field, working at major hospitals. Tho preached unsubstantiated information about cancer and nutrition such as "drinking milk causes osteoporosis; Eating brown rice with sesame salt, making soy sauce, tapioca, eating macrobiotics to cure cancer or leftover fish sauce after 4 hours will create carcinogens."

However, on the portal looking up the medical practice certificate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health. HCMC does not have a doctor's name called Ha Duy Tho.
