The internet is buzzing with a one-of-a-kind jackfruit in Nghe An, weighing 55kg, as much as an adult. Its huge size leaves everyone in awe. The owner of this jackfruit immediately put it up for sale, at an unexpected price.

Continuing the series of giant jackfruits in Vietnam, Nghe An recently continued to register in the "giant jackfruit race" with a "candidate" weighing up to 55kg.

Sharing with the media, Mr. NX (in Don Phuc commune, Con Cuong district, Nghe An province) said that in early August, his family had just harvested a jackfruit weighing up to 55kg. Mr. X. provided an additional image of the jackfruit lying on the scale with the needle pointing to the number 55. In the photo, the jackfruit is as wide as Mr. X's body.

Mr. X. said that his jackfruit tree has been planted for 4 years, and is an old tough jackfruit variety. In response to many people's curiosity about how his family takes care of the jackfruit tree to produce such huge fruit, the homeowner shared that his jackfruit tree is cared for normally, nothing special.

After harvesting, Mr. X. sold the jackfruit to an acquaintance for just over 200,000 VND. This price surprised many people because it was so cheap, only about 4,000 VND/kg, while the current average price of jackfruit is about 15,000 - 25,000 VND/kg. However, Mr. X. said that he sold the jackfruit at the above price so that people could eat it for fun.

Before this 55kg jackfruit, social networks were abuzz with many giant jackfruits such as the jackfruit in Hanoi weighing 43kg, the jackfruit in Hai Duong weighing 54.5kg, the jackfruit in Thanh Hoa and Lang Son weighing 56kg, and especially the jackfruit weighing nearly 70kg in Bac Giang holding the record for the heaviest weight.

About the nearly 55kg jackfruit in Hai Duong. The owner of this fruit is Mr. Pham Van Thieu (64 years old, from Hai Duong), the owner of the "unique" jackfruit tree, who has officially cut open the giant jackfruit. On July 7, 2024, Mr. Thieu said that after a few days of "driving the stake", today the tough jackfruit is officially ripe and soft. He and his brothers, friends, and neighbors gathered to cut open the jackfruit and wait to see the image inside.

"Like every year, when the jackfruit is ripe, its fragrance fills the house. But this nearly 55kg jackfruit is more special, with thick, golden yellow segments, and large, long segments as long as a hand," Mr. Thieu said.

Mr. Thieu's jackfruit variety is not too sweet, but only slightly sweet, and has a particularly fragrant aroma. Because it is "homegrown", he is completely assured of its cleanliness and safety, so he comfortably lets his children and grandchildren enjoy it.

"A few days ago, many people asked to buy this jackfruit but I didn't sell it. I saved it when it was ripe to split it for my brothers and neighbors to eat. "Homegrown", everyone appreciates it," Mr. Thieu said.

"This morning, friends and neighbors flocked to see Mr. Thieu cut open the "huge" jackfruit. When they cut it open, everyone was surprised and happy because the quality of the jackfruit was so excellent. Everyone peeled it and ate it, and if there was any left over, I gave each person a piece to take home and eat, calling it a delicious fruit to enjoy together," said Mr. Thieu.

This special jackfruit tree was planted by Mr. Thieu 8 years ago but has only been bearing fruit for the past 3 years. In previous years, each jackfruit tree yielded about 10 fruits, the heaviest weighing about 37kg.

This year, the jackfruit tree only produced 5 fruits. The first one to be picked was the nearly 55kg jackfruit, the remaining 4 weighed about 10 to 20kg, and Mr. Thieu is still waiting for the harvest day. Mr. Thieu was also very surprised that the jackfruit tree he planted produced such large, delicious fruits. He has no special secret in caring for it, just watering the tree every day as usual.

The owners of the "super giant" jackfruits all share that they do not have any special care regimen for the jackfruit trees.
