Recently, the cyanide poisoning case in Dong Nai has attracted the attention of the public over the past time, and there have been new developments. There were 2 other unusual deaths that are currently being investigated by the police.
In recent days, the case of "falling down" with family members with cyanide in Dong Nai has shaken public opinion. In just 8 months, 5 people belonging to 3 generations of Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's family in Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai) have passed away.
Defendant Nguyen Thi Hong Bich
The defendant Nguyen Thi Hong Bich (born 1986, living in Nhon Trach district) confessed that he had taken turns with each relative to resolve the conflict, causing 3 victims to die and one person to be injured.
The victims who passed away forever include: Mr. Nguyen Thoai Thanh The (born 1985, Bich's husband), Nguyen Kha Di, Nguyen Hoai Nam (Bich's grandson); the injured person is N.H.B.T. (18 years old, Bich's grandson).
However, up to now, there are 2 other unusual deaths in Bich's family, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai (Bich's father) and Nguyen Hoai Minh (Bich's son). Currently, the Dong Nai Provincial Police are continuing to investigate and clarify the departure of these two victims.
Regarding the above case, many people expressed doubts about whether the authorities need to carry out grave excavations to find the cause of the permanent death of the remaining victims and when this will be done.
Sharing on Dan Tri newspaper, Colonel Do Canh Thin, former Deputy Director of the Center for Criminology Research and Criminal Investigation, Institute of Police Science, People's Police Academy, said that the excavation of the grave for the examination of the exam depends on the nature of the case.
If the death shows signs of a crime and the cause has not been determined, the prosecution will request the exhumation of the grave for clarification. The procedural agency will check whether the exam is injured or contains poison. Upon autopsy, they will prove the cause of death of the victim.

In the case of cyanide poisoning in Nhon Trach district, if the investigating agency excavates the graves and finds this substance in the bodies of the victims, there will be grounds to determine the cause of death. The victim was poisoned with cyanide, even after a hundred years, the investigating agency excavated the grave for autopsy was able to detect this substance.
According to Colonel Thin, the suspect's testimony only clarified the evidence collected by the authorities. If only testimony is used as a substitute for evidence, it will be easy to falsify, leading to wrongful convictions or missing crimes. In principle, the authorities will excavate the grave to prove whether the suspect's testimony is true or not.
In the procedural rules, the perpetrator does not need to prove his guilt or innocence. The burden of proving that person is guilty or innocent belongs to the procedural body. Therefore, the excavation of the grave needs to be based on the requirements of the case. If the culprit had been cyanide, it would not have been entirely accurate without excavating the grave.
Colonel Thin added that the investigating agency needs to prove that Nguyen Thi Hong Bich is the perpetrator, so the grave must be excavated to see if the testimony is true. The timing and method of excavation of the grave is a matter for the procedural body, which they will consider.

"This is a serious case of human death, killing many people with despicable motives, the Dong Nai Provincial Police have prosecuted the accused, arrested the accused Bich for the act of killing people. The Dong Nai Provincial Police are continuing to take measures to verify, investigate and handle strictly in accordance with the law," said Colonel Toan.
