The case of cyanide poisoning: in 8 months 5 people left, the suspect was a debtor
Because in order to appropriate property to sell money to pay off debts, the suspect in Dong Nai was willing to use cyanide with family members including husbands, children, fathers and grandchildren. Currently, the developments in the above incident are causing outrage throughout social media.
Accordingly, in just 8 months, 5 people belonging to 3 generations of Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's family in Vinh Thanh commune, Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai), died with the same symptoms of chest tightness, headache, shortness of breath, and vomiting. After that, the police of Dong Nai province arrested Nguyen Thi Hong Bich (born 1986, Vinh Thanh commune, Nhon Trach district) to investigate the crime of grievance. Bich is the suspect of poisoning Mr. N.H.B.T. (18 years old, nephew) with cyanide.

At the same time, the investigating agency is also clarifying the unusual deaths of 5 of Bich's relatives from October 2023 to May 2024, including: Bich's husband, children, father and grandchildren.
Local people said that the incident was discovered when Mr. N.H.B.T. had similar symptoms, was taken to the emergency room in time at Le Van Thinh Hospital (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), doctors were able to clarify the cause due to the impact of the toxic substance Cyanide.
Mr. H. (44 years old, living locally) said that Mr. Hai is a native of the locality, has 6 children (2 boys, 4 girls). Bich is the 3rd child in the family. Mr. Hai's wife is living with her first son in the US. Before the incident, Mr. Hai lived with Bich and his wife at a house that is a rice shop next to Bac Minh parish, Son Ha hamlet, Vinh Thanh commune. Around October 2023, Mr. T. (SN 1985, Bich's husband) after a number of emergency visits at the hospital, passed away with symptoms of chest tightness, headache, and shortness of breath.
A few months later, Mr. Hai also died with the same symptoms. "At this time, the locals have no doubt and think that this is the bad luck of the victim's family, because Bich's husband is sick and has been hospitalized many times. Meanwhile, Mr. Hai also has a history of stroke," Mr. H. said. According to the man, about a month after experiencing 2 funerals, baby M. (Bich's child) also had symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath and cyanosis all over the body. When he was taken to the hospital, he did not survive. At this time, the locals began to be confused.
After the funeral, Mr. Lam (SN 1979, Bich's 2nd brother) took his wife and 2 children to live at his biological father's house. Mr. Lam and Bich continue to sell rice and barbecue noodles at the family's house with a 10m long façade. Lam sells barbecue noodles and broken rice in the morning and afternoon. Bich sells popular rice at noon. The neighbor thought that Mr. Hai's family incident only stopped at 3 lives, unexpectedly a few months later, mourning continued to come.
The suspect was arrested for investigation
"After 2 months of moving to a new place, Mr. Lam's youngest son showed symptoms similar to his grandfather's illness and died at the hospital. Next, Mr. Lam's nephew (the child of the 5th sister) also died with the same symptoms. People can't explain why Mr. Hai's family keeps dying," Mr. H. said.
Mr. H. added that recently, when Mr. Lam's first son fainted, was taken to the emergency hospital and was diagnosed with cyanide poisoning by doctors at Le Van Thinh Hospital, people began to doubt the 5 previous deaths at Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's house.
Ms. T.N. (70 years old, living near Mr. Hai's house) said that before and during the incident, Mr. Hai's family members lived in harmony. Therefore, when each of Mr. Hai's family members died, the neighbors had no doubt that there were signs of death. People speculate that when Bich's husband died, the funeral at a bad time led to the family being mourned. Others think that it is due to the genes of Mr. Hai's family, because all 5 people died with the same symptoms, suspected of stroke.
Gradually, people discovered that Bich's rice shop had a lot of customers coming to eat every day. However, she constantly borrowed money from the locals. "Bich owes many people from a few tens to several hundred million VND. When Bich was arrested by the police, some creditors came to the restaurant to find and add up the amount she owed up to several billion VND," Ms. N. said.
According to the neighbor, when N.H.B.T. (Mr. Lam's eldest child) fell ill and was taken to the emergency hospital, the victim's maternal family asked the doctor to test his blood to detect cyanide poisoning. After that, they went to the police to report the incident.
"At this time, family members think that they are harmed by outsiders. When the police investigated, it was determined that Bich was the one who wanted to take his nephew's life," Ms. N. said.
