For many years, the buffalo named Yuvraj has been famous throughout India in particular and the world in general for possessing the genes of the buffalo breed considered to be the best in the South Asian country.

The 1.5-ton super buffalo from Kurukshetra city, Haryana state, northern India recently became the star of the Bhubaneswar Dairy and Fisheries Festival held in late February 2024 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha state.

Yuvraj appeared at the Festival at the invitation of the Odisha government to convey the message to farmers about the need to raise good quality buffaloes to increase milk production in the state.

Yuvraj, born in 2008, is named after former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh (1981). According to his owner, Mr. Karamveer Singh (58), the buffalo is cared for on a human-like regimen: 5 km of exercise every day and bathed twice, plus massaged with mustard oil. Yuvraj's "seed" is in high demand. The buffalo calves born from Yuvraj's s.perm weigh between 40 and 50 kg and produce 20 to 30 liters of milk per day when they reach adulthood.

Mr Karamveer Singh said that cattle farmers, dairy farmers and frozen s.emen traders in the market used to queue up at his house to buy the "seed" of the buffalo Yuvraj.

Not only selling "seeds", Yuvraj buffalo also won many titles and prizes in competitions in India. In total, he won 24 national livestock championships when possessing important indicators of a good buffalo breed.
