Vo Ha Linh was "caught", Vietnam Consumer Protection Association made shocking recommendations

According to information from the Labor and Social Magazine, in an official dispatch, the Vietnam Association for Consumer Protection (VICOPRO) said that recently it has received many letters of reflection and recommendations from consumers and retailers in Vietnam.

The petition mentions that many KOLs and celebrities are doing business online with unreasonable signs, causing negative impacts on the market.

The two most prominent recent cases are: first, Pham Quang Linh (aka Quang Linh Vlogs) and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (aka Hang Du Muc) advertised falsely. Second, Vo Thi Ha Linh (aka Vo Ha Linh or Ha Linh Offical; born in 1991, hometown: Nghe An) called for stockpiling, dumping, and selling poor quality goods.

Regarding the case of Quang Linh Vlogs and Hang Du Muc, the Vietnam Consumer Protection Association has sent an official dispatch to the Department of Food Safety/Ministry of Health; Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health; Dak Lak Department of Health to coordinate information exchange to handle the case. The case has now been handled by the authorities.

Specifically, regarding this issue, the newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong also reported that the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (PTTH-TTĐT, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) issued two administrative penalty decisions No. 82 and No. 83 against Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (Hang Du Muc) and Mr. Pham Quang Linh (Quang Linh Vlogs), due to violations in advertising activities.

Accordingly, Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc were fined under Clause 5, Article 34 of Decree No. 38/2021/ND-CP regulating administrative sanctions in the field of culture and advertising, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 129/2021/ND-CP of the Government, for advertising incorrectly, causing confusion about the announced quality.

The fine for the above-mentioned act is 70 million VND for each individual.

At the same time, Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc must take remedial measures to force correction of information regarding the violation.

Along with that, on March 24, the Chief Inspector of the Department of Food Safety issued a Decision to administratively sanction Chi Em Rot Group Joint Stock Company with a fine of VND 125,000,000 for 2 violations.

According to Labor and Society Magazine, Vo Ha Linh is a KOL who is constantly being reported for dumping, providing poor quality goods and calling on people to hoard goods. These reports have caused much concern for the consumer community as well as had a significant impact on the market.

Specifically, before the livestream sales session on March 15, 2025, on Facebook with a blue tick, Vo Ha Linh called on consumers to buy in bulk with the reason that the e-commerce platform was about to increase fees in early April.

This KOL was also accuse.d of continuously selling goods at incredibly low prices, many times lower than the market price, leading to negative impacts on retail activities at traditional stores. According to the petition sent by the people to the Vietnam Consumer Protection Association, if this situation continues, the consumer market may become unbalanced, causing damage to retailers and affecting consumers' shopping habits.

In response to the above reflections, the Vietnam Consumer Protection Association has received opinions and collected information to send recommendations to competent authorities such as the Market Management Department, the Competition and Consumer Protection Department, the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, and other relevant units.

The Association also requested that the authorities promptly inspect, verify and take measures to handle any violations, in order to protect consumer rights and ensure a healthy business environment.
