Later, someone advised Empress Dowager Xu to suck on two walnuts when applying makeup, one walnut on each cheek so that the cheeks were round and full. This method makes her makeup also more smooth and delicate.

However, when they fled across a small bridge, the bridge suddenly collapsed, and many people and luggage fell into the water.
Fortunately, Empress Dowager Cixi escaped but the 2 walnuts she loved were washed away by the current.
After hearing that 2 walnuts could not be found, she flew into a rage and ordered the searcher to return immediately. Moreover, Xu Xi also announced that if anyone found those 2 walnuts, he would be rewarded with a lot of money.
This shows the importance of walnuts to her. During the search, in order to be sure of finding 2 walnuts, they even built a temporary dam on the shore, finally after many efforts, they found the pair of walnuts, brought them back to Empress Dowager Cixi and received countless gold and silver treasures.

However, the spring water offered to the empress dowager had to be boiled with rose-scented tea. She requested that fresh flowers be picked and mixed with dried tea to ensure that the tea had the floral aroma when brewed.
