Pursuing "gold bandits", summoning 2 subjects to threaten reporters
Recently, the police of Soc Son district conducted a raid on a group of illegal gold miners, and summoned two people for obstructing work, threatening and chasing reporters.
This morning on July 22, a representative of the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district, Quang Nam province, said that after receiving information from the press, the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district directed the police force to check and hunt down illegal gold makers in the area of 5A yard (hamlet 1, Phuoc Thanh commune, Phuoc Son district).
Through inspection, the functional forces discovered a number of camps and vehicles and machinery of illegal gold makers, so they dismantled and destroyed. Phuoc Son district police also summoned two people who obstructed, threatened and threatened to beat reporters.
At the police station, initially, these people said that because they were drunk, they could not control their behavior. "The police force checked and had such an initial report. At the beginning of next week, we will hear the specific report again and will provide information to the press" - A representative of Soc Son District People's Committee confirmed.
Previously, on July 20, a group of reporters went to yard 5A (in Phuoc Thanh commune, Phuoc Son district) to work after receiving feedback from people about illegal gold mining that is taking place here.
According to the clip of the reporters returning, when they entered this area to work, some people from the camp came to use vulgar language and cursed them. Even more outrageous, a man here also held a wooden object, like a hammer, chased and demanded to hit them, causing them to quickly run away. Only when some people intervened, this person would "let go" to the reporter.
It is known that this area is located opposite, about 400m from Bai Muoi gold mine of Phuoc Minh Co., Ltd., currently this mine has not been allowed to be exploited again to overcome environmental problems.
According to the leader of Phuoc Thanh commune, the area of 5A yard was previously licensed to a gold mining company, then was bought by Phuoc Minh Co., Ltd., when the gold mining license expired, it was planted with acacia.
Talking to a reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper by phone, Mr. Ngo Van Quang - owner of Phuong Minh Co., Ltd. confirmed that the area of yard 5A was acquired by him from another company many years ago. After the expiration of gold mining, the company is growing acacia. Mr. Quang confirmed that there was no incident of his company's people illegally mining gold in that area, and his company's employees also never obstructed or assaulted reporters. "Here, the people they illegally entered to make gold, last week the company.
However, when asked, a member of the gold-making group said that "this beach is Quang's yard", "we have asked Quang's permission" to bring his family to this area to mine gold to earn extra income.
This area is about 7km from the commune headquarters and is regularly searched by the commune authorities. However, some "gold thieves" still come here to exploit heavily. "To tell the truth, local people live a miserable life, so they come here to make money and income. I just received information, this afternoon I will ask the police force to go there to check and handle it thoroughly, so as not to repeat this illegal gold-making situation again" - this leader said.
As reflected in the reporter's clip, after digging for ore, they brought it to the gathering point and put it in the grinder, then used soaking chemicals to collect gold. At the scene, the sound of the machine explosion resounded in a forest, the water from the gold selection machine was turbid, thick, and discharged directly into the environment and then into the Dak Mat river - about 250 m away from the place of gold selection. Standing on the hill looking down, it is easy to see the difference between the color of the river water and the color of the water flowing down from the gold collection area.
Currently, the case is still being investigated and clarified by the authorities. Groups of subjects who violate the law will be subject to deserved punishments.
