Artist Trang Thanh Lan's real name is Nguyen Le Lieu, born into a large family with no artistic tradition. When she was 16 years old, her family had a big incident. Her father passed away. Her difficult life made her decide to pursue art to find a living.

Under the guidance of musician Tung Lam, she passed the audition of the Quoc Thanh theater and began her singing career from then on. Before that, she was given the stage name Doan Trang by musician Tung Lam, but she found that it did not suit her cute and playful personality, so she changed it to Trang Thanh Lan until now.

Thanks to her sweet voice, she became a popular name on music shows at that time. Not only that, she also developed a career as an actress, playing a role in her first movie called Highway Without Lights. In the film, she plays the younger sister of the late artist Thanh Nga.

When mentioning this film, Trang Thanh Lan recalled the list of artists who participated in the film that year and sadly realized that she was the only living actress, artists Nam Chau and Tuong Vi. , Thanh Nga... all passed away a long time ago.

At the age of 28, she married artist Quang Binh. It can be said that she and her husband were like fish in water, two veteran artists working together, the two quickly became a beloved duet at music venues. Among many lovely songs, Giang Cau is considered the most successful duet of the couple and made them a musical phenomenon at that time.

"When we first got married, we were very poor. I don't remember what brand of car we drove. It broke down a little bit and stopped. In 1986, we bought a car. That year, my husband and I were artists. The first Vietnamese soldier to have a car," she sadly recalled.

Say goodbye to Vietnam - rebuild your career in a foreign country

Standing at the pinnacle that many artists dreamed of at that time. In 1992, Trang Thanh Lan decided to leave Vietnam to settle in the United States. She recounted the night of her last performance at Ben Thanh Theater, she and the audience cried a lot because they did not know how long this separation would last. According to the original plan, she and her two children were sponsored by her sister, so they would go to the US and Quang Binh's husband would stay in Vietnam. But during the interview, when she opened her application and saw that it included a marriage certificate, the interviewer gave her the opportunity to bring her husband along. So just 1 month later, the whole family was in America.

During her time, her family faced many difficulties, but thanks to the money she received from singing while in Vietnam, her family's life was somewhat better. After that, she started accepting offers to do voiceovers for movies and do commercials. Most of the roles voiced by Trang Thanh Lan are personality and formidable roles. Trang Thanh Lan recalls: "I was 39 years old when I came to America. The first job I did was advertising for commercial establishments. I was a pioneer in filming commercials for Vietnamese stores and brands. in U.S.A.

I also dub movies to have money to support my two children's education. I often dub Hong Kong movies, with Viet Thao. I often voice fierce roles, causing fights from inside the house to the street, having to scream and yell a lot. That's why after dubbing, my throat bled.

I really respect the actors who specialize in dubbing movies because they can dub hundreds of episodes and I'm not familiar with them so I don't have the technique, I don't know how to time the dialogue and where to pause. The professional voice actors recorded very quickly, but I had to record until late at night and couldn't finish it."

After a difficult time struggling in the land of flowers, Trang Thanh Lam and her husband returned to work for Thuy Nga center. Here, the two also had many popular duets such as When I Marry You, Love Is An Injustice, Returning Love to the Homeland... Happiness did not last long in a foreign land when her marriage ended. disbanded, she and her husband went their separate ways. At that time, there was a lot of information that artist Trang Thanh Lan was so sad that she was depressed. Without the audience and the spotlight, she probably couldn't get through the storm of her heart.

But when recalling this unwanted ending, she just gently said: "When the relationship ends, it falls apart. Even though I live alone like I do, I'm still very happy." It is true that God does not disappoint people. Luckily at that time, she was loved by the Karma Group so she was given the opportunity to jump into comedy. The first time she went on stage to perform a comedy, Trang Thanh Lan was trembling so much, her performance pants were shaking so much that she had to hold them with her hand. Even though she had practiced very carefully before going on stage, she forgot all her lines. At that time, luckily Hong Dao discovered it and helped her find her feelings again.

After a broken marriage, Trang Thanh Lan raised two children. Being an understanding person, her son often encouraged her to go out and meet people to relax. She also listened, but in the past 15 years, she decided to close her heart and not give anyone else a chance. She chose a peaceful life with her children and grandchildren.

"The reason my husband and I divorced was because we ran out of debt, so it naturally broke down, but I didn't know the reason. When I got divorced, I was already dancing in comedy, so it's okay if I don't sing together. If someone calls, I'll go sing a show alone.

Later, I also had a boyfriend to go out and eat with, but for the past 15 years, I haven't known anyone, closed my heart, and put myself in the cold palace. I don't give anyone the opportunity to pursue or flirt.

Now, I just stay at home, having fun with my children and grandchildren. I have grandchildren and great-grandchildren, very happy. My life now is like practicing at home. In the morning, if my friends invite me to eat or go out, I go. When I come home in the afternoon, I have dinner with my son's family and then go to my room to watch movies and social networks at night," she smiled, her eyes also flashing with happiness in her late age.
