Since 2012, Tran Cam Hong has given up the limelight and left the screen to take care of her autistic son. Tran Cam Hong's son, Tran Giap Hoa, was discovered to have autism since he was a child.
So he did not renew his contract with TVB, focusing on taking care of his beloved son. He said: "I have not worked since 2011, after finishing the series King of Kings. Because at that time my son was only 3 and a half years old, he could not say a single sentence, he could only say 'mom and dad, let's eat' but could not put it together into a complete sentence.
After completing my contract with TVB, I stayed home to teach my child every word, play games with him, cook for him, and give him massages, helping him understand that being with his parents is great."
Under the dedicated guidance of Tran Cam Hong and his wife, their son transferred from a traditional high school to an international school. He achieved excellent results, ranking first in his class and second in his grade.
Since childhood, Tran Giap Hoa has liked English and often actively communicated with foreigners. However, because Chinese has many polysemous words, he had difficulty understanding and learning, so the couple decided to transfer their child to an international school.
Currently, at the age of 17, Tran Giap Hoa has developed a passion for learning the piano, he can play and compose music very well. He also regularly performs with other classmates.
After his son gradually got better, the Shanghai Bund actor returned to acting. However, his roles no longer attracted the attention they did during his peak. Currently, he mainly participates in events and appears in meetings with friends and colleagues.
Accordingly, after 3 years of leaving the studio to take care of his son, Tran Cam Hong reunited with the small screen audience through the male lead role in The Marriage Affair in 2019, collaborating with actors Dang Tuy Van, Lieu Bich Nhi, and Dam Thien Ngon.
The actor said he missed the set, but he didn't feel any regret. This comeback of Tran Cam Hong was partly because he wanted to prove to his son that "Dad is a useful person", and partly because he respected Dang Tuy Van.
During the film's promotion, discussing fidelity in marriage, Tran Cam Hong admitted that she regretted not confessing her love to the beautiful and talented actress Tuyen Huyên.
While co-starring in the 1998 film Secret of the Heart, Tran Cam Hong revealed that he was attracted to Tuyen Huyên at that time. "At that time, I felt that she was very beautiful and had a great personality. Especially, when she spoke English, she looked very stylish," the actor revealed.
However, because he was a traditional man, he was afraid that pursuing her would cause him to be rejected. Later, they worked together and he realized a very different side of Tuyen Huyen that he once knew. "But at that time, I had a girlfriend who is also my wife now. I couldn't leave my girlfriend and felt that no one was better than her," Tran Cam Hong recalled.
