Ending her love affair with Chau Tinh Tri, she dated director Feng Duc Luan (Shu Qi's current husband) for nearly 8 years and decided to "go their separate ways".

In 2003, Mac Van Uy went to Germany to star in a Jackie Chan film and met Johannes – her first college love. At that time, he had just divorced his wife and had 3 children. The couple decided to give each other a chance to do it again.
