At a press conference on July 16, lawyer Tran Duc Duy (Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association), Jack's legal representative, said that the male singer's lawsuit to determine his paternity rights was a legitimate and legal request.

Providing information about the lawsuit, lawyer Tran Duc Duy said that after Jack filed the lawsuit, Thien An, with the support of the legal team, said they were ready to cooperate to resolve the case. The lawyer added that since the People's Court of Thuan An City accepted the case, the defendant has never been to court, and has only sent a single document requesting the case to be suspended. However, the court did not accept the request for suspension and decided to transfer the case file to a competent court for settlement.

According to the lawyer, the reason Jack filed the lawsuit was because Jack's visitation rights and access to his fatherhood were being blocked. Therefore, the male singer asked the competent authority, the court, to protect his fatherhood rights.

"From a legal perspective, it is to ensure that Jack is the child's legitimate father. So that in the future, the child has the right to love, care for, and even inheritance rights. If Jack does not do it now, later, there will be related disputes. At that time, what can we use to say that legally the child is the child of artist Jack? The law must be stated on paper and evidence. Therefore, Jack's filing a lawsuit in court is a legitimate and completely legal request," Jack's legal representative shared.

Normally, going to court to confirm the father-child relationship only happens in two situations: One is when the father does not recognize the child, forcing the mother to file a lawsuit to claim the child's rights, especially the right to alimony.

Second, when the mother is married to another person at the time of birth, making it practically impossible for the father to carry out the administrative procedures to acknowledge the child - at that time the court must intervene to re-establish the correct blood relationship.

According to the lawyer, legally, Jack has every right to request determination of paternity under Article 39 of the 2015 Civil Code. This is a right protected by law.

In case an agreement cannot be reached with Thien An to carry out administrative procedures at the civil status office, filing a lawsuit in court is the only way for Jack to protect his legal paternity rights.
