Recently, social networks have widely shared a video of a gir.l trapped by a rolling door. In the clip, the gir.l is wearing a helmet, sitting on a motorbike and reversing the bike out. When she reaches the door, the rolling door suddenly drops down, trapping the gir.l.
The gir.l kept struggling to find a way to escape, kept pressing the shutter key but the door would not open. Only when the shutter was lowered lower and lower, blocking the motorbike, could she find a gap to squeeze into the house.
The gir.l was lucky to escape the 'door of deat.h' by a hair's breadth. This video immediately attracted great attention from the online community after being shared. Many conflicting opinions were expressed about the 'heart-stopping' incident, some people said that the gir.l was too hasty and pressed the button before leaving the house, causing the door to close, some said that she should have taken her motorbike out of the house and then pressed the button to ensure safety.
"Next time, take your car out, don't sit on it and then back it up. If something unexpected happens, it will be difficult to handle", "Watching the video for a few dozen seconds made my heart drop. Next time, go outside first before pressing the door down. Rushing for a few seconds can endanger your life",...
It is known that the gir.l in the video is Phan Thi Thanh Nga (born in 1992, from Lam Dong, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City). Nga said that this video was taken from her nail salon camera on the evening of January 13. Because she had only rented this location for 1 month, she had no experience using this rolling door. Because she lived and worked alone, she had a habit of not pressing the rolling door all the way up but leaving it halfway up, to create a sense of security.
That night, after finishing work, Thanh Nga held the remote control for the rolling door in her hand and led it to her car. Because the shop was narrow, she could not turn the car around and had to back it out. However, when she reached the door, she accidentally pressed the remote control, causing the door to lower, trapping both her and her car. At that moment, Nga panicked and kept pressing the remote control to make the door go up, but because her vision was blocked, she pressed the wrong button.
"My neck was under the force of the door, unable to move. Then at some point, I pressed the right button, the door went up and I could breathe a little. I pressed it again and the door fell down, crushing the back of the motorbike. I took that opportunity to shrink back and escape.
While struggling, my mind was filled with countless thoughts: 'Am I going to di.e for nothing?', 'Am I not going to be able to go home to my parents this Tet?'. At that time, I felt like there was nothing I could do but wait. Luckily, I had a chance to escape."
Previously, on August 28, 2023, in Duy Tien town (Ha Nam), a case of a gir.l died due to being crushed by a rolling door was recorded. A similar incident also occurred on April 2, 2023 in Ha Long city (Quang Ninh). Accordingly, an 11-year-old bo.y was crushed by a rolling door on his chest, causing him to be trapped and later died. The family said that the door's anti-obstacle sensor system was broken and the family had not repaired it, leading to this heartbreaking incident.
Another tragic incident involving rolling doors occurred on the morning of July 19, 2023, in Hoai Duc district (Hanoi). Accordingly, a serious fire broke out at an electric bicycle business combined with a house. According to witnesses, when the fire was discovered, people shouted, mobilized fire extinguishers to put out the fire, and even used a forklift to break the rolling door to rescue people trapped inside. However, because the rolling door was designed very firmly, people could not successfully break it.
When approaching the scene, the fire department also had to use specialized equipment to break this rolling door. The fire kille.d 3 people and burned many valuable properties.
It can be seen that, in some aspects, the use of rolling doors also poses risks in the event of a fire or explosion because it can become a "steel wall" that blocks the escape route, making rescue operations very challenging.
