The land dispute between Ms. Tran Thi Kim Loan and Mr. Do Van Huu (residing in Thien Huong ward, Hai Phong city), where Mr. Huu built and occupied a 2-storey house on Ms. Loan's land, is becoming increasingly tense.

As soon as she discovered that Mr. Huu had started to build a foundation and a house on her land, Ms. Loan asked Mr. Huu to stop so that she could resolve the matter. In an initial attempt to reconcile, Ms. Loan agreed to sell the land for 600 million VND. This was considered a goodwill from her side, aiming to quickly resolve the matter, avoid prolonged legal troubles and minimize great damage to the wrongful construction party.

However, the negotiation broke down because Mr. Huu did not agree with the proposed price. Mr. Huu is said to have forced Ms. Loan to sell for 550 million VND or offered to exchange it for another plot of land of his family that was less valuable. In addition, Mr. Huu also attached the condition that she had to wait until he sold his own plot of land nearby before giving the money.

It is worth mentioning that instead of stopping construction to continue negotiations, Mr. Huu continued to mobilize human resources to complete the 2-storey house and move in, despite strong opposition from Ms. Loan and the sanction documents of the local government. This action pushed the case into a complicated situation that could not be saved by negotiation.

After the Court of First Instance issued its verdict, Mr. Huu continued to appeal to the Court of Appeal, pushing the case into a new tense phase. Currently, Ms. Loan affirmed her family's stance to resolutely resolve the case in accordance with the law, insisting that Mr. Huu demolish the house and return the land. All other civil agreements have been dismissed.

Sharing about the choice to take the case to court and report it to the police, Ms. Loan said that it was the last solution after goodwill efforts to reconcile were rejected. Her family filed a criminal complaint to the police, accusing Mr. Huu of "appropriating land use rights" while waiting for the appeal verdict.

Ms. Loan emphasized: "My point of view is to resolve the matter in accordance with the law. In case Mr. Huu asks the 'genie' to move the house or has to demolish it, I will accept it, as long as my legal rights are protected."

The leaders of Thien Huong ward confirmed to reporters that the locality is making efforts to complete the necessary legal procedures so that the appeal hearing can take place soon. The government pledged to take the next steps in the spirit of the rule of law when there is a verdict, ensuring the legitimate rights of all parties.

Notably, the plan to invite a "genie" to move the house to the correct location of Mr. Huu's land has also been considered by the government to encourage people to comply with the verdict.

Regarding Mr. Huu, information in the press said that on September 26, Mr. Huu confirmed that he had contacted a person known as "the genie" to prepare for the relocation of this "wrongly" built 2-storey house. However, the leader of the People's Committee of Thien Huong Ward also added that Mr. Huu admitted to the ward officials that his family is currently facing financial difficulties, especially after completing the construction of the house.

The case is still awaiting the final decision of the Court of Appeal, while the Hai Phong City Police Investigation Agency has sent officers to work with local authorities to collect documents and clarify related allegations. The final decision will determine the fate of this disputed house and land, along with the legal and economic consequences that the parties will have to face.
