Last weekend's box office had quite a few new movies released, most notably the Thai horror movie 404 Run Now starring Uyen An - Tran Thanh's younger sister.

Although no longer at the top of the box office, the revenue of Sister-in-law - the film starring Hong Dao, Viet Huong, Ngoc Trinh still maintained a good ticket sales rate in its second week in theaters. According to data from Box Office Vietnam, Sister-in-law earned 16.7 billion VND last weekend, bringing the film's revenue after 10 days of release to nearly 71 billion VND.

Meanwhile, 404 Run Now made a spectacular breakthrough and climbed straight to the top spot at the box office with over 19 billion VND in the last 3 days of the weekend. Including the revenue from early screenings, the Thai film starring Tran Thanh's younger sister reached 37.5 billion VND.

With a duration of 104 minutes, the film follows Nakrob, a con man who is heavily in debt but always dreams of a happy life with his lover. To change his life, he plans to buy cheap houses and resell them at sky-high prices. Unexpectedly, the house Nakrob bought is haunted. With no other choice, he has to rely on spiritual experts to help him fight the spirit of the female ghost.

The film follows the horror and comedy colors, easily accessible to many audiences. After the first screenings, 404 Run Now received positive feedback with its entertaining content. The film became a topic of discussion on social networking sites, leading to high recognition and rapid growth in monetization.

However, the film is actually limited in terms of script. Many unnecessary details, along with poor pacing control, make the film drag on in some scenes.

Before the explosive appearance of 404 Run Now, Sister-in-law dropped to the second place at the box office. Last weekend, the film earned 16.7 billion VND, with nearly 6,900 screenings. Although the number of screenings was slightly higher than the Thai horror comedy, Sister-in-law's revenue was still lower than its competitor. So far, after 2 weeks of screening, director Khuong Ngoc's brainchild has earned 70 billion VND.

With the current speed of making money, the film starring Hong Dao and Viet Huong has a good chance of reaching the hundred billion revenue milestone. This is an amazing achievement for Khuong Ngoc - a director who previously "fell off the horse" with low-grossing films.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 holds the 3rd place at the box office with over 5 billion VND in revenue. The next positions belong to Howl's Moving Castle with over 4.2 billion and Mufasa: The Lion King with 4.1 billion. Currently, the revenue of Mufasa: The Lion King has exceeded 20 billion VND in the Vietnamese market.

Vietnamese cinemas last weekend witnessed the failure of the Vietnamese film Kaleidoscope: Catch the Ghost. The film version of the TV series that attracted attention 30 years ago is in a slump. As a result, the film ranked 6th at the box office with 1.4 billion VND in the last 3 days of the weekend and currently only reached 4.2 billion VND, considered to be certain to lose money.
