Sister-in-law by director Khuong Ngoc. This is a work released at Christmas, telling the story of the tragedy of a family without a man. In the film, Viet Huong plays Hai Nhi, the sister-in-law who always tries to take care of the family.
However, she is not liked by her four sisters-in-law (played by Hong Dao, Le Khanh, Dinh Y Nhung, Ngoc Trinh) with contrasting personalities and fates. The death anniversary of her late mother is where the conflict in the family becomes more tense.
Talking about the reason for accepting to participate in the film, Viet Huong shared that besides wanting to act with artist Hong Dao or support Ngoc Trinh, she also wanted to do it because of a saying from Khuong Ngoc. The female artist said that when she was invited to participate in this film project, her junior affirmed: "If you (intimate form of address) don't do it, I will quit". From that saying, Viet Huong asked the director to give her the script and started reading to learn and prepare for the character.
Although they are quite close in real life, Viet Huong and Khuong Ngoc cannot avoid disagreements when working together. The female artist said that there was a scene where her junior asked her not to cry, but when put into the character's context, it made Hoai Phuong's wife unhappy. However, after discussion, the two came to an agreement with the aim of helping the film have the best content. "It is not easy for the director to 'control' the sisters here. Khuong Ngoc had to call me aside to talk," she revealed.
"I currently weigh 48kg, but when I filmed Sister-in-law, I only weighed 45kg. Every time we filmed, Khuong Ngoc and I found ways to make my face look more swollen. Therefore, I had to jog so that my breathing was interrupted and "plummeted" down to make my face look swollen, like someone who was sick, true to the script," the star of the film House of 5 Fairies shared.
In addition to participating in artistic activities, Viet Huong is also busy with her business career. The actress said that in order to take care of everything, she had to rely on the support of her partner, artist Hoai Phuong. She proudly said: "I have a husband to take care of me and my child is 15 years old, so when it comes to family, everything is fine. But now I am developing my business, so Mr. Phuong has to support me a lot. No one takes care of me about money, about personnel... like my partner."
Regarding her less frequent appearances on game shows compared to before, Viet Huong admitted that it was due to the times. She said that in the past, she had received invitations to sit in the hot seat of programs, but at present, game shows are mainly filmed outdoors. "While now, if I ask young people to pour flour on my head, they wouldn't dare to do it. If I go to work, I would put pressure on my juniors, which is also not appropriate for my age," the female artist expressed.
Also at the film's premiere, director Khuong Ngoc said that Viet Huong's character is real in life, modeled after a family member who has now passed away.
Regarding the reason why the movie Sister-in-law only has female actors and no male actors, director Khuong Ngoc shared that it was because he wanted to make a movie about women with different personalities.
In the film, artist Viet Huong is the sister-in-law of Hong Dao (playing Ba Ky), which makes many viewers suspicious because of the age difference. Director Khuong Ngoc said he did not hesitate when choosing these two roles.
"Having a brother-in-law who is older than his sister-in-law is the problem that causes conflict in this family. If he was younger, there would be nothing to talk about" - the male director said.
Talking more about the film's revenue expectations, director Khuong Ngoc said that not only he but also the entire film crew wants this film to be best spread and achieve the highest revenue.
