The film project Kaleidoscope by director Vo Thanh Hoa has just announced the main cast. In which, the role of Nho Hanh is played by Phuong Duyen (21 years old). This is the first time Phuong Duyen has entered the screen.
"I feel like Nho Hanh and I have a lot in common, especially in the spirit of learning and patience. I was quite nervous when I first acted in a movie. I hope to receive everyone's support and love for Kaleidoscope," she said.
Phuong Duyen said she has watched the TV version of Kaleidoscope many times and loves the role of Nho Hanh played by actress Anh Dao. She knows there will be comparisons when the movie Kaleidoscope is released, but she is not too pressured.
The film's producer was impressed with Phuong Duyen because of her positive energy and good chemistry with the two actors Hung Anh and Nhat Linh. Sharing with the press, Phuong Duyen said that Nho Hanh is her first film role. "The cast will all have modern innovations as well as express the youthful, creative spirit of today's young generation. The film version of Kaleidoscope hopes to bring a fresh breeze to the series that has made many generations' childhoods," said the producer's representative.
Returning to the arts after many years, Phuong Duyen was curious about what the audience commented and reacted to the film. But what the young actor received were mixed opinions. Although there were still compliments and encouragements somewhere, giving Phuong Duyen more motivation to try and gain experience for the following projects.
"The mixed comments about me mostly revolve around the trailer. People often comment that Hanh in the movie is a bit wry and not as pretty as the TV version. But, for me, each version has its own good points. In the TV version, Anh Dao is already so pretty and when I took on the role in the movie, I didn't try to imitate her to become a copy. Instead, I just be myself, exploiting the character according to my own understanding. The important thing is to convey the character in a way that is close to the heart," Phuong Duyen shared.
The young actor added: "Of course, when I read negative comments, I feel sad, but I don't let that emotion affect me for too long because it will prevent me from doing anything else. Instead, we turn pressure into motivation to try harder."
According to Phuong Duyen, from the first days of casting, she was under pressure to overcome the shadow of Anh Dao (playing the role of Hanh in the TV version) and make the audience accept the character when they were too familiar with the previous version. But from the beginning of filming, she and the cast told each other to believe that they could do it. If they were still hesitant and worried, it would be difficult to convince the audience.
"With my first role, it's hard to avoid making mistakes in expressions and dialogue. However, because the crew trusted me with the role, I tried my best so that when I look back, I won't feel regretful," Phuong Duyen said.
In addition to her poor acting, especially the crying scene, Phuong Duyen admitted that she also received mixed opinions about her appearance.
"Regarding appearance, I find it normal when reading the comments. The film is set in the countryside, around the early 2000s. So when playing the role of Hanh, I was even made up to look darker, making the character look uglier than in real life. But that's how I can live my life to the fullest with the character. Now, in any film, the crew can make me look as ugly as possible as long as I can get into character.
Nine out of ten people in the online community have different opinions. Some people say I'm ugly and rustic. Others say our clothes are too modern for the context. We don't know how to please the majority of the audience. Therefore, the important thing is that we keep trying, I believe there will be a group of audiences who will accept us."
Phuong Duyen, born in 2003, has impressive academic achievements: Excellent student for 12 consecutive years, won the Encouragement Prize for Excellent Student in Math, fluent in both English and Korean. Not only is she a good student, she also won the First Prize of Talented Children (2009) and was in the Top 45 of The Voice Kids 2013.
Phuong Duyen also has a special relationship with Phuong My Chi. The two first met in 2013 at The Voice Kids, and quickly became close because they both pursue folk music. In addition, the pair also have the same "introverted" personality. "My first impression of Chi was that she often wore ao ba ba. After that, she also invited me over to her house to play with dolls many times. Thanks to that, we gradually grew fond of each other."
In the Confrontation round, the best friends were... placed in the same competition. Despite being rivals, the two still maintained a beautiful friendship. Gen Z "revealed" that the pink ao ba ba she wore in the 3 Regions Medley was also the outfit Phuong My Chi chose to sing the hit Que Em Mua Nuoc Lu.

The two did not hesitate to show their close relationship in many game shows. It seemed that they could not be broken, but recently, the two showed signs of discord.
