Not only did she have an accident, had to have brain surgery and was almost in a vegetative state, seemingly unable to survive, female Cai Luong artist Tam Tam also suffered a lot in love.
Following his father's footsteps, he became the leader of the Thanh Nga reform troupe
Artist Tam Tam's real name is Pham Ta Thanh Tam, born in 1978 in a family with a tradition of artistic activities. Tam Tam is the daughter of author Hoang Ngoc An - head of the Thanh Nga Cai Luong troupe (now named Thanh Nga Buddhist Cai Luong Troupe under the Cultural Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Buddhist Church).
Being a child of good family, from the age of 5, Tam Tam learned to sing. Thanks to her natural talent, Tam Tam soon participated in many reformed plays, as well as appeared on big stages.
Tam Tam has been with Tran Huu Trang Theater for nearly 20 years. When talking about Tam Tam, it is impossible not to mention the role of Ly Chieu Hoang in the play "The King of Crime" - this is considered the role of a lifetime in her career.
For Tam Tam, Cai Luong is not only a passion but also a bloodline, a responsibility to continue the family business, even though the profession does not bring her a financially prosperous life.
Composer Hoang Ngoc An - the female artist's father - is the author of many famous operas. Since 2002, he has composed many operas on Buddhist themes under the pen name Chanh Duc Phap and staged them for the Thanh Nga Buddhist reform troupe.
She recalls: "I followed my father's profession, artist Hoang Ngoc An, an impresario of Cai Luong opera, and also composed operas. Since I was young, I knew many Cai Luong plays and ate them deeply. At the age of 5, I Following his father's words, he went on stage to sing Cai Luong.
I didn't know how to read, so I practiced the opera in a way where my mother sang a line, I sang the same line, and yet I sang without missing a beat. The excited audience even clipped money stuck to a paper fan and threw it at me. I liked it so much that I didn't sing anymore, I just went in."
20 years later, in 2022, author Hoang Ngoc An passed away. Tam Tam replaced his father as group leader, to continue fulfilling his father's wishes.
Continuing his father's career at a time when audiences seemed to turn their backs on Cai Luong art was a huge challenge, but artist Tam Tam was never discouraged.
Although struggling for the troupe to survive, the female artist still believes that, with the spirit of solidarity and love for the profession of the artists in the troupe, her wish to bring Cai Luong to audiences near and far will be fulfilled.
She confided: "I'm not as famous as other artists, but I'm content with what I have, because from a young age I only knew how to sing and didn't know how to make a living in any other profession."
Tam Tam's contributions to Cai Luong art were recognized by colleagues as well as the government through the title of Meritorious Artist awarded earlier this year.
Horrible accident, U50 doesn't care about her husband and children
In 2013, Tam Tam had a serious traffic accident, suffered a traumatic brain injury, and thought he would not survive. "Everyone thought I wouldn't survive, I was lucky to keep my life.
The doctor then said that if the surgery was successful, I would have to be in a vegetative state because I was brain dead. I thought I couldn't do my job again, couldn't return to the Cai Luong stage," the female Meritorious Artist shared in the program Life Storyteller.
Yet only about a year later, Tam Tam returned to the stage to the surprise of her colleagues and audience.
At that time, due to sequelae from the accident, her limbs were still convulsing and her face was paralyzed on the 7th nerve. But because she missed her job and the audience so much, the female artist was eager to stand on stage.
The first day she started singing again, Tam Tam's arms and legs convulsed, holding the microphone and falling to the ground. Her singing partner had to hold her hand tightly to stop her from convulsing.
Therefore, the fact that Meritorious Artist Tam Tam can completely recover and do her current job is something that even she never dared to think about and is a great happiness that the Patriarch of the profession has given her.
"Fortunately, I have recovered now. I am happy because I have not lost my love for the profession and can still stand on stage and perform for the audience. I am normal now, but I certainly cannot. beautiful as before.
After the accident, I realized many things and let go gently. Colleagues who met me often joked that I was no longer me because they thought I was dead at that time. People also told me that if I sang for Buddhism and many temples, I would be blessed," she said happily.
Not only did she experience health problems, Meritorious Artist Tam Tam also suffered a lot in love. She had been in a relationship for 21 years. She thought they would get married, but unexpectedly they broke up.
Even though she was suffering to the extreme, after crossing the boundary between life and death, the female artist gently let go of everything because karma cannot be avoided. That is what makes Tam Tam have a peaceful life like now after all the storms.
At the age of 50, Meritorious Artist Tam Tam no longer thinks about her husband and children but concentrates on her profession, serving her karma, being filial to her parents, and taking care of her younger siblings. The female artist plans that, in the future, when she can no longer sing, she will take refuge in Buddha and live a peaceful life.
Tam Tam shared: "I believe in cause and effect, so I thought I must have been mean to people in my previous life, so in this life I had to repay their debt and then be betrayed. Well, now I have paid my debt and let it go gently. , no longer owe anyone anything.
Currently, my life is peaceful, not entangled in love affairs, and in the future I do not plan to be entangled in love affairs again. I only wish to fulfill my filial piety to my parents, take care of my youngest brother who is sick, serve my ancestors, and sing for the audience."
