Experiencing many obstacles both in her career and in her personal life, artist Thanh Hang hid her grief from the bottom of her heart for 15 years to come back and stand on stage again.
Artist Thanh Hang was born in 1959 in a family with a tradition of reforming. Her mother is the artist Kim Hoa, her grandmother is the artist Tu Hélène. Thanh Hang's children - Ngan Quynh, Thanh Ngoc, Thanh Ngan - are all singing and acting.
In the early days of entering the profession, Thanh Hang said that she was just a dancer in the Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga troupe. But thanks to her great love for the art of cai luong and her predestined relationship with her career in singing, Thanh Hang went from a dancer to a supporting role and became the main dancer in many famous cai luong plays. Becoming famous at the age of the full moon, Thanh Hang soon received the glory of the cai luong stage.
In 1982, when she attended the National Theater Festival, she won the A1 prize. After a long time following the provincial delegation, artist Thanh Hang returned to the city, joined the Tran Huu Trang theater and continuously brought back excellent medals and awards for the troupe.
The female artist is famous for many lifetime roles. Among them are "Luong Son Ba - Chuc Anh Dai", the pairing with Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, the role of My Hanh in the play "People are not lonely" or the role of Son's mother in "Washing the dust of life" won the national gold medal. .
In 1991, artist Thanh Hang won the gold medal of the Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Prize. Talking about her acting ability, she can transform into many types of tuong roles such as peach spear, peach scent, peach scent basket, poison basket, poison peach, mother role. In addition, she is also successful in comedy and cinema.
16 years old married, experienced 2 times
In the program After the halo, Thanh Hang said she got married very early. At the age of 16, because she lived in a group with many brothers and sisters in the singing group, "afraid that people would tempt me to make her pregnant", the female artist accepted to marry a man who arranged chairs for the audience. Thanh Hang said: "At that time, when I saw that people loved me, I got great". A year later, she gave birth to her first child.
This marriage caused Thanh Hang to suffer a lot of pain both physically and mentally. The female artist said that her husband had red and black blood, so she was often beaten: "Every time I asked him to stop playing cards to take care of my children, I was beaten up. Every time during Tet, people often gamble and eat. If I drink, I'm afraid because my husband will beat me more."
Marriage is like hell, but Thanh Hang still grits her teeth and endures. She is afraid of being criticized by the public, afraid of her children being disadvantaged. In a desperate time, she sought death but was fortunate to be saved.
Entering the 5th year, Thanh Hang has the courage to step out of an unhappy marriage. After that, she also found a new love. The second time she got married, she gave up everything and followed her husband to Australia to settle down, but then it broke down.
Crying when remembering 15 years away from home
In a foreign country, Thanh Hang has to do everything to make a living. She used to clean toilets, make lunch boxes for delivery, sell fruit on the street, do nails to earn extra income. Many times when she misses the stage, she just drives to the park, sings and dances alone, and then comes back.
She said: "The stage happiness, the audience's happiness is too much for me. From the time I was in Vietnam to the time I went abroad and then returned. But my personal happiness is less fortunate.
When I came to Australia, I just thought, I'll put my career aside for a while, wait for my children to grow up a bit, then come back. By that time, I was prepared by the leader to prepare a dossier for the title of Distinguished Artist.
When I went to Australia, I was surprised. Life is not like in Vietnam. In Vietnam, I just had to sing, not worry about the house, but through that, I had to take care of everything in the family.
I thought that through that arrangement, I would return to Vietnam, but unexpectedly, time did not allow. I have to take the children to school, take care of food and water at home. Time goes by without knowing it.
I miss my job so much, I can't sleep. Many nights I thought I was late, made a face and woke up, looking around the room wondering, where am I? After a while, I realized I was in Australia.
I really want to go back but looking back, he was too young. They are living in their mother's arms, who cares if I go. As an expatriate, it is difficult to return once gone. It's not that I don't have money to buy plane tickets, but time and daily life do not allow me to leave my children like that. Many programs invited me, also in the US, but had to put them all aside. It took me 15 years like that."
Hoai Linh's grace
Talking about the chance to return to the profession, artist Thanh Hang said: "When my youngest daughter was 17 years old. She said: I'll try to wait until I am 18, let me grow up, finish school, then I will go back to Vietnam to sing again. Because he sees that every weekend, taking the kids out, I usually take the beat with me, get in the car and open it. I sing, act, cry, and then take my kids home...
The end of 2016 is the year the youngest is 18 years old. I participated in a show in Australia with many artists in Vietnam. I acted with Hoai Linh. Hoai Linh told me: "Second sister go home, second sister, have fish sauce to eat fish sauce, have salt to eat salt, the children are grown. She returned for a few months and then ran back to her children for a few months.
My son was also sitting there at that time, he heard it and said: Mom, go back to Uncle Four. After that show, Hoai Linh bought a plane ticket for me to return home.
It was comedian Hoai Linh who brought artist Thanh Hang back to the profession. The female artist once said: "Hoai Linh helped me escape death".
Despite being able to return to the stage, the personal happiness of artist Thanh Hang is difficult. At the age of 63, artist Thanh Hang said that she just wanted to live for art, for the stage, for the audience to love her, but she didn't dare to think about love.
"I don't dare to think about anything else. Even now that I have someone who loves me, I don't accept it, even though the children are very comfortable. They say that moms are happy and children are happy," said artist Thanh Hang.
