People's Artist Ngoc Giau, whose real name is Phong Thi Ngoc Giau (born July 13, 1945), is a famous artist of the Cai Luong stage. Before coming to art, the childhood memories of People's Artist Ngoc Giau were a series of days of poverty and hardship, but Ngoc Giau was very passionate about singing. Outside of school hours, in her free time, she often studied singing through the radio. Then she studied and worked as a hired worker in the Kim Phung theater troupe. Here, she learned silk nursery dance, rice transplant dance, and became a maidservant on stage.

Thanks to her natural voice, she can sing an old resounding verse in every opera, or in roles with very little appearance on the stage. In the Kim Phung singing group for a while, Ngoc Giau and his brother were introduced to the Shandong Doan forever martial arts.

A year later, when she was 12 years old, she was accepted into the Mai Lan Phuong - Ngoc Chieu singing troupe and only worked as a maidservant, then recited poems behind the scenes. In 1958, returning to Saigon, People's Artist Ngoc Giau was invited by the owner of Hung Dao Theater to attend the opening ceremony, and at the same time played the main role in the play Two Swallows in Early Spring, paired with talented actor Minh Chi.

Two years later, she was invited by composer Ha Trieu - Hoa Phuong from the Thanh Minh - Thanh Nga singing troupe. Since then, Ngoc Giau's name has become more and more popular with the Cai Luong audience across the southern provinces and cities. For her success through many roles, especially the main character Dieu Thuyen, she was awarded the Thanh Tam Award in early 1960. In 1967, she was honored to receive the Thanh Tam Award again.

Up to now, more than 40 years of working with the arts, and as an artist and exemplary teacher of Tran Huu Trang Theatre, artist Ngoc Giau has played more than 100 roles on the cai luong stage, about 50 plays, dozens of feature films, videos, comedies.

Currently, despite being at the age of seven decades, People's Artist Ngoc Giau is still a favorite face of many directors.

Although successful in her career, the female artist's marriage path also encountered many obstacles.

Painful "broken heart" when her daughter died of blood cancer

Ngoc Giau is very "fair" in love affairs. She admits that she loves love because: "Every time I am loved, I am very excited". While being the most popular name, Ngoc Giau suddenly got married when he was just 17 years old.

The female artist said: "When I was singing, suddenly my father called me to get married and set a wedding date, but I don't know what love is." She said she was married off to repay the family's help for her family.

Because of the ceremony, Ngoc Giau only knew how to quickly wipe away her tears and then pity her husband 32 years older than her with a wedding 3 days long. On the flower car, Ngoc Giau crouched under the car because of embarrassment.

She is 17 - he is 49, until now artist Ngoc Giau is still startled. Full of sound and color, Ngoc Giau is loved and spoiled by her husband.

The night of the room, the young bride cried like rain because: "Before going to sing, I slept with Thanh Nga only". Her husband just touched her hand and told her to lie next to her, Ngoc Giau shouted: "Who let you touch my hand? What's wrong with husband and wife to sleep together?".

There was no love, so she bluntly stated that she got married because she listened to her parents. Just like that, Ngoc Giau's daughter-in-law was so stubborn that her biological parents had to ask to take her home because: "I'm too young, wait for me to grow up a bit and then the couple will reunite".

2 years later, when the 51-year-old husband happily came to pick up his 19-year-old wife, the soul of the spring was still cold and did not let her husband touch her.

Because of the word "meaning", the female artist prolongs the marriage arranged by her parents for 19 years. When parting, People's Artist Ngoc Giau said: "I gave him all my house and property". She and her husband have a child together named Ngoc Han.

At a young age, if Ngoc Giau holds the aura, her daughter will be deprived of her life by blood cancer. People's Artist Ngoc Giau thoughtfully said: "If he was still alive now, he would be 47, 48 years old. Han was taking the 7th grade exam when he fainted.
