The police also took statements from some witnesses and relatives of the victim to serve the investigation.
Many apartment residents are still shocked after the fire caused the death of mother and child.
Ms. My (28 years old, living in Tan Phu district) said that at that time the fire broke out fiercely, many people were screaming, and the sirens were ringing.
"Fire from the 10th floor apartment was bright red, black smoke rose. People in neighboring apartments panicked and ran away" - Ms. My described.
Mr. Phuc (50 years old, resident near the apartment building) is still haunted by the sight of the victim's mother and daughter falling to the ground.
"I saw smoke and fire from the apartment on the 10th floor. Then two people jumped down. Residents shouted, many people covered their faces," - Mr. Phuc said in shock and said that at this time the area was chaotic, sirens were alarmed. shouted, the residents ran all the way down the hall.
A witness said the son apparently tried to swing the window curtain to get down to the apartment next door but lost his hand and fell to the ground in a panic. "The mother then jumped down," the person said, adding that the local force tried to put out the fire but failed.
According to eyewitnesses, the moment the mother and daughter fell were only about five short seconds apart.
"The image of two people falling left me and the onlookers dumbfounded. They smelled of gasoline. If only they could stay on the balcony for a few more minutes, maybe their chance of survival would still be there," Ms. My said.
Have had suicidal thoughts before?
At the scene, the authorities discovered a half-burnt plastic can that smelled of gasoline. Through the investigation of the scene, witness testimony, initially, the authorities suspected that the cause of the fire was the mother who poured gasoline on her own to set it on fire.
Security camera recorded, before the time of the fire, the apartment had an explosion. The initial assessment of the authorities is that the victim may have burned gasoline by himself, causing the explosion.
Besides, through information from relatives, Ms. N has terminal cancer and is currently being treated. Due to debts in the society, they are demanded and psychologically unstable and depressed.
This affects her daughter, M. Before that, the mother intended to commit suicide but was prevented and saved by her relatives.
During the day, the family members came to identify and provide the authorities with some relevant information. "The mother showed signs of depression and her daughter was also affected psychologically," said a relative of Mrs. M, who said that both mother and daughter had suicidal thoughts.
It is known that the apartment is not owned by Mrs. N, but has just been rented recently. Mother and daughter live a closed life, rarely interacting with people around. Previously, residents near the apartment rarely saw the appearance of mother and daughter. It's only been common for the last two months or so.
The two uncles who heard about ran to the scene to identify the body and mourn for the young niece. "We told our niece that she should call him if she had anything, I don't understand why she kept thinking about it, but in the end such a heartbreaking story happened" - this person said.
The People's Committee of Hoa Thanh Ward said that they now have basic information and will visit, encourage and support the family.
