Nong Thuy Hang: Tay beauty puts aside her beauty queen title to compete in Miss Cosmo Vietnam

Nong Thuy Hang was born on July 24, 1999 in Ha Giang, Vietnam. She is of the Tay ethnic group and grew up in a family with a father who is a border guard officer and a mother who is an electricity officer in Ha Giang province.

From a young age, Thuy Hang showed her passion for learning and art. She studied at Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted and won third prize in the National Excellent Student Competition in Literature. With this achievement, she was admitted directly to the National Economics University and graduated with honors in International Business.

Nong Thuy Hang began her beauty pageant career in 2019 when she participated in the Miss World Vietnam contest and entered the Top 39, and also entered the Top 8 Media Beauty. In 2020, she continued to participate in the Miss Vietnam contest and stopped at the Top 35. However, her greatest success came in 2022 when she was crowned Miss Ethnic Vietnam. After that, she represented Vietnam in the Miss Friendship International 2023 contest in China and won the second runner-up position.

After being crowned Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2022, Nong Thuy Hang has devoted much of her energy to community-oriented activities. She returned to Ha Giang and helped disadvantaged students in her hometown. The program is part of a series of activities called "Continuing Dream Journey" to promote the spirit of learning and support the development of disadvantaged children across the country.

In 2025, the beauty from Ha Giang made the media stir when she unexpectedly registered to compete in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2025 Online Photo Contest - Miss Cosmo Vietnam. It is rare in Vietnam for a national beauty queen, who already has a noble title, to accept the challenge of participating in another domestic beauty pageant. Coming to beauty pageants, I not only seek titles but also seek my mission - to spread cultural values, to inspire girls to dare to step out of their comfort zone to pursue their dreams. This journey has never been easy, but each challenge is an opportunity for me to become stronger, braver and more dedicated.

For me, beauty pageant is not just a crown, but also a responsibility - the responsibility to preserve and promote culture, creating good values for the community. I want to use my voice and influence to help children in the highlands have the opportunity to study, help ethnic minority women have a voice and bring the beauty of traditional Vietnamese costumes to the world.

I do not hesitate to continue participating in a beauty contest, because I always constantly renew myself to become better every day, true to my motto in life: "Being you but the best version".

I believe that when a woman dares to step beyond her own limits, she not only changes her life but also inspires those around her. Therefore, I came to Miss Universe Vietnam - Miss Cosmo Vietnam 2025, not only to challenge myself but also to continue writing the story of courage, perseverance and the values I pursue.
