Nhu Huynh is favored by the audience and colleagues for the title "Miss Cai Luong stage" not only because of her beautiful appearance but also from her talent in many fields, from Cai Luong to cinema and music.
In 2016, Nhu Huynh won the runner-up prize of the Tai Tu contest with actor Gia Bao. 2 years later, she continued to make her mark in the bolero singing contest The best duet - the golden couple with an Indochinese film actor and won the runner-up prize.
In 2020, Nhu Huynh was honored to receive 3 medals at 3 professional theater competitions. Gold medal at the Capital Theater Festival in Hanoi, 2 silver medals from Tran Huu Trang and Young Talents.
Recently, she continued to participate in the National Professional Drama Theater Festival 2021 and especially impressed, admired and touched her colleagues, as well as the audience when playing the revolutionary character Nguyen Thi. Minh Khai in the play "Dating Mother Earth".
Telling that to see the artistic journey of this western girl is very proud. And even more proud when she came up from empty hands, from strong will, wiped away tears and so much regret to get today.
Fainted backstage from exhaustion
As a young actor, passionate about her profession, Nhu Huynh devoted herself so much on stage that she almost fainted backstage from exhaustion, especially the role of revolutionary Nguyen Thi Minh Khai in the play of the same name. at the National Professional Drama Theater Festival 2021:
"Playing this role, I was beaten and cried a lot, not to mention the generous segments so I lost my strength. Before that, I was worked too much, constantly had to go up and down between Saigon and Bac Lieu. I is an actor of Cao Van Lau theater under Bac Lieu, near Tet, the province has many shows and plays tuong every month.
Currently, I am also starring in a TV series. The movie is filming to meet the deadline again. Some days, when I finished the show in Bac Lieu at 11 p.m., I drove in the morning and night to go to Dong Nai and Binh Duong in time for filming. After turning around, I drove back to Bac Lieu, just in time to make up and go on stage to sing. It's been almost 2 months since I've been walking like this that I'm exhausted."
Had to leave school early to earn money to help parents
Sharing about her childhood, Nhu Huynh confided:
"It's embarrassing to say it, but I'm not like you, sitting on school chairs, being taught by teachers, and molded little by little. I'm not so lucky. Now, I'm just finishing the lessons. degrees, from popular culture to profession.
I come from a farmer's family. My family was poor, so I had to leave school early. After that, I just moved to the city to work. Therefore, my experience comes from the school of life, from failing in early roles and learning more every day."
Talking about her family's situation at that time, the female artist recalled:
"At that time, my family had a financial crisis, it was very difficult, and the children got sick. When I had to miss school, I cried so much. Every time I saw my friends passing by the house, I cried.
Since 7th grade, 8th grade, I worked with my two children to work part-time: mile rice, catch snails to sell to duck farms, spread nets to catch field fish to sell, pluck energy, melons... Back then, selling 1 kg of snails can only sell for 200 dong, so even catching a sack can only get a few thousand silver dong. Making money is very difficult.
That's why, later, when I have the opportunity to work, even though I'm tired and can't breathe, I remember the days when I wanted to earn 5,000 VND and it was still difficult, I tried again. I regret being so abusive to my body and health."
Terrible days...
The fate that brought Nhu Huynh to the profession was also very coincidental, she revealed:
"When I was a child, I used to listen to radio programs on the radio. Every afternoon, the radio broadcasts a program of echoes, cai luong. I was bright, heard and memorized all the characters' lines. Going to school, teachers and teachers you often sing, then participate in cultural movements of the school of the hamlet, district...
The aunts and uncles asked to take the exam. I have won A and B prizes at the amateur festival. The farmer's singing contest also received a certificate of merit. In 2006, I went to Ca Mau Province's Singing and Broadcasting Competition and won the second prize, there was no first prize that year.
In 2008, I competed in the Golden Bell contest, reached the final and finished in the top 5. The first time I participated in a big, national-sized competition, I was surprised by everything. I went to Saigon to take the exam but only had more than 100,000 VND in my pocket. Fortunately, the program took care of all the food and accommodation for the candidates, otherwise I wouldn't be able to take the exam.
After the exam, I went back to my hometown. An acquaintance in Saigon called to go to work. I'm going to work as a receptionist. Fortunately, at that time, the brothers and sisters who participated in the Golden Bells came to know me. They create conditions for me, wherever I go to sing. The brothers and sisters give as much as they can, as long as they earn money.
Really, I'm the one who started a business with nothing, so many pitfalls, so many markets... but no one thinks so. They think I have a sponsor. Every time I have a small opportunity to do a job, they think I must change this or that to get it.
They did not think that I had to go through so many tears, difficulties, loneliness, living frugally to stay in Saigon to have money to send back home to my parents to buy rice. No matter how sad I cry, when I finish crying, I have to stand up strong because the whole family is waiting.
It took about 5 years for me to temporarily stabilize my job, a place to live and have money to send home. At first, every month, I could only send a few hundred thousand to 1 million, then gradually more."
At the present time, Nhu Huynh is no longer burdened with the family:
"I'm no longer burdened like before, but I'm still taking care of my parents and siblings. In my family, I'm the eldest child, with three younger siblings left. They're all stable now. The youngest is in the final year of school. The other two have stable jobs, one has a family, so I'm less worried."
