In Phu Thuong and Tay Ho villages, every day, around 3-4 am, there are hundreds of cars, carrying baskets of delicious sticky rice to sell in all streets of Hanoi and neighboring provinces.
Phu Thuong Ward, Tay Ho District, Hanoi City is always bustling at night, when families diligently blow sticky rice, preparing for the sale the next morning. Around 4 a.m., the hot batches of sticky rice are completed and divided into baskets. Each basket of sticky rice was placed on the saddle of the motorbike and taken to the car park a few dozen meters from the house.
Cars parked in a yard, each family took turns loading baskets of sticky rice, sausages, sausages, etc. into the car and started moving.
Staying up all night to make a batch of sticky rice for breakfast, Mr. Cong Minh Cuong and his wife used a 7-seat Honda CRV as a means of transporting tons of sticky rice to sell every day.
Phu Thuong currently has about 600 households making sticky rice, accompanied by hundreds of brightly lit cars carrying sticky rice throughout the inner and outer suburbs of Hanoi and to neighboring provinces.
Every day, the Honda CRV car carries Mr. Cuong and his wife through 3 sales locations. At each point, one person goes to sell, the other continues to move to the next point.
Sharing about buying a car to sell sticky rice every day, Mr. Cuong said: " The amount of sticky rice sold on the full moon day and the first day is very large, about 1 and a half quintals of rice. If transported by means of transport such as motorbikes, It's very difficult and dangerous, so I use a car. It can carry a lot and is also safer. Every day, I travel 50km to and from work ."
Mr. Cuong's family has been cooking and selling sticky rice to make a living since his grandparents' lifetime. Ms. Cao Thi Hai Yen, Mr. Cuong's wife, explained further: " I usually go early in the morning to sell sticky rice, it's still very dark, so I choose to go by car to be safe, rather than riding a motorbike on some very dangerous highways. heavier.
I like the full moon day, the first day and Sunday because those days are very crowded. Going to sell on Sunday is not a rush.
In the past, our grandparents rode motorbikes so they couldn't transport sticky rice long distances. But now, thanks to the development of the sticky rice craft village, people can afford to buy cars to transport goods. Therefore, not only Hanoi but neighboring provinces can also enjoy delicious sticky rice in Phu Thuong.
On weekdays and full moon days, my car can only carry sticky rice. Others have to follow behind by motorbike to get to their point of sale ."
Another family, Mr. Hoang's, also bought a car to transport sticky rice to sell from a small village in Phu Thuong to Trieu Khuc. Mr. Hoang shared that his family has made sticky rice for 3 generations to sell. Depending on the family, some sell sticky rice early, some sell it late. His family often starts work very early, usually at 3 am.
On weekdays, they sell about 30-40kg of sticky rice, but on holidays like the full moon or the first day, this quantity increases, about 50-60kg.
In the past, Mr. Hoang said villagers used to carry baskets on their heads, then used bicycles to move around. But now people have switched to using cars. The distance from Phu Thuong village to Trieu Khuc is 17km, with each day traveling about 34-35 km.
The convenience of using a car is that it can withstand rain and sun, carry more goods and is safer than using a motorbike. According to Mr. Hoang, this helps them reduce hardship and danger during travel.
