The film "The Four Legivers" in early 2025 directed by Tran Thanh on the first day of premiere has set the highest revenue record in the history of Vietnamese cinema with more than 43 billion VND. Despite that, the film still made Tran Thanh sad.

According to recorded data, "The Four Reporters" reached 100 billion VND after only 2.5 days and touched 200 billion VND after only 5 days of premiere. This achievement largely comes from the attraction of Tran Thanh's brand and a cast of actors familiar to the mass audience such as Le Giang, Le Duong Bao Lam, Uyen An, Quoc Anh. In addition, the presence of the famous Miss Tieu Vy and Ky Duyen also helped the film attract curiosity and create a strong media effect in the early days of theaters.

However, contrary to initial expectations, the film's growth momentum began to slow down from the second week. According to Box Office Vietnam's statistics, at the end of its journey in theaters, "The Four Legislators" achieved revenue of about 332 billion VND, leading the box office in the 2025 Tet season but still far behind Tran Thanh's own two previous records, "Mai" (520 billion VND) and "Lady Nu's House" (459 billion VND). Many experts believe that the main reason comes from the word of mouth effect is not strong enough, along with the direct competition of films released in theaters at the same time such as "Silver Kiss of Billions" or "Soul Lights".

In terms of content, "The Four Revenges" revolves around a love triangle story with humorous colors, intertwined with messages about love, marriage and choices in life. This is a familiar formula that Tran Thanh has successfully applied in previous works, aimed at family audiences during Tet. However, it is this safety that becomes a big minus. Critics said that the film script was quite superficial, lacked psychological depth, many comedy pieces were commented as forced, repetitive and no longer created surprises.

On social networks, a series of analyses appeared with the opinion that the film "lacks emotional highlights", does not bring a strong aftertaste like "The Godfather", "The Lady's House" or "Mai". The audience's reaction was also markedly divided. On the contrary, many opinions frankly criticized this as "the weakest work of Tran Thanh's directorial career", leading to a wave of widespread negative comments.

It was those mixed reactions that made Tran Thanh unable to hide his sadness. On his personal page, the male director once confessed: "To be honest, there have been a number of deliberate negative comments about the film these days, Tran Thanh is also quite sad." He constantly urges the audience to look at the film objectively, not to compare it with "Mai" or "Lady Nu's House", and at the same time affirmed that "The Levenger Quartet" is a project that the crew is seriously invested in. Actor Le Giang also responded harshly to disparaging comments many times, showing the disappointed mood of the film crew before the "storm of public opinion".

Compared to previous works, "The Four Legislators" is considered an artistic step backwards, although it still proves Tran Thanh's commercial appeal.
