The "power trio" of Hoai Linh, Thai Hoa, and Dam Vinh Hung will reunite for the first time in a Lunar New Year comedy masterpiece, predicted to be a strong contender to dethrone Tran Thanh and Truong Giang at the box office.
A new counterweight to Vietnamese films and international animation.
For the 2026 New Year's holiday, alongside Thu Trang's Vietnamese film "Who Loves Whom," the return of the legendary Stephen Chow with "A Chinese Odyssey" and the animated film "Tom and Jerry," the appearance of "Big Brother Ha Ha Ha" is considered an interesting "variable." Having taken South Korea by storm during the Mid-Autumn Festival, director Hee Chan Ra's work promises to stir up the Vietnamese box office with special screenings starting January 1st, 2026.
The "unconventional" scenario: When the tycoon's chair is... cast aside.
The film "Ha Ha Ha" captivated audiences with a novel concept, completely reversing traditional gangster film tropes. Instead of bloody purges to seize power, the core members of the Sikgupa organization (the largest gang in Yongdu City) resorted to various means to... push the boss's position onto others.
The plot revolves around Soon Tae, a retired gangster with a burning desire to own a chain of restaurants. However, the sudden death of his former boss puts him in a dilemma as he is designated as his successor. To protect his dream of "being a chef," Soon Tae creates a hilarious and chaotic power struggle between the boss's nephew, Kang Pyo, and Pan Ho – a troublemaker who craves the position of gang leader.
"A million-dollar cast" in the Vietnamese dubbed version.
The highlight that Vietnamese audiences are most looking forward to is the outstanding dubbed version featuring a star-studded cast.
The film features a collaboration between two "box office kings": Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh voices the character of gang leader Lim Dae Soo with a style that is both serious and humorous, while "box office king" Thai Hoa plays the male lead Na Soon Tae, bringing emotional depth and characteristic wit to the character.
A multi-generational cast: The film also features names that guarantee laughter, such as Le Duong Bao Lam (as Cho Pan Ho) and Mac Van Khoa (as Dong Kang Pyo). Both are expected to create hilarious dialogues that are no less outrageous than the original versions by Park Ji Hwan and Jung Kyung Ho.
The film features appearances from popular social media personalities: It also boasts the voices of Hai Trieu, Hai Vot, streamer Nhism, and especially TikToker Con Co Day in the role of Ji Young (Soon Tae's wife). Notably, singer Dam Vinh Hung also makes an appearance as In Sul, a key character played by actor Oh Dal Su in the Korean version.
Before its release in Vietnam, "Big Brother Ha Ha Ha" had already proven its immense popularity in South Korea. The film officially surpassed 1 million tickets sold in just 4 days (from October 3rd to October 7th). With an overwhelming ticket sales rate of 40.4%, it was the only comedy film to dominate Korean theaters during a major holiday period.
With meticulous investment in both visuals and voice acting, "Big Brother Ha Ha Ha" is undoubtedly a must-see for Vietnamese audiences in the early days of 2026. In the context of a fiercely competitive Lunar New Year film market, the sensational "collaboration" of the powerful trio Hoai Linh – Thai Hoa – Dam Vinh Hung is seen as a direct attack, powerful enough to make even current "box office kings" like Tran Thanh or Truong Giang wary and concerned about their reign.
2026 Lunar New Year Film: Thu Trang clarifies rumors of "avoiding" Tran Thanh and Truong Giang.
Bảo Nam14:49:45 20/12/2025The actress said she understands very well the intensity and fierce competition of the Lunar New Year film season, where projects often have to race in terms of scale, screening slots, and media coverage. For her, not every film is suitable for release in that context.
