Nha Phuong attracted attention when she directly supported Truong Giang in his 2026 Tet film project despite being pregnant with her third child. Not only did she contribute to the script, but the actress also participated in the casting process, revealing the behind-the-scenes pressure of her husband directing a feature film for the first time.
Nhã Phương recently surprised audiences by revealing that she is taking on the role of casting director for her husband Trường Giang 's 2026 Lunar New Year film. This marks Trường Giang's first time trying his hand at directing and producing, and also Nhã Phương's first time behind the scenes supporting her husband on a major film project. Remarkably, the actress is still pregnant with her third child, but she has decided to contribute to share the burden with her husband.
Initially, Nha Phuong only participated in script reading and offered a few ideas. However, as production became increasingly urgent, Truong Giang suggested that his wife take on the role of casting director. Her biggest task was finding the right actress for the lead female role of An – the daughter of Mr. Thach, played by Truong Giang. This was a crucial role, as the film revolves around the conflicted and emotional father-daughter relationship.
The biggest challenge Nhã Phương faced was finding young actors capable of naturally embodying the character. Even close to the filming date, the crew hadn't found a suitable candidate. Fortunately, Minh Anh – an actress who had previously appeared in Victor Vũ's film "Detective Kiên" – appeared at the last minute. With her age close to the character's and her natural acting ability, Minh Anh was quickly chosen. Nhã Phương then personally guided the 17-year-old on how to analyze the character and convey emotions in tense dialogue scenes with Trường Giang.
The film "My Father's One-Room House" marks Truong Giang's return to the big screen after a 5-year hiatus. In the film, he plays Mr. Thach – a single father living with his daughter in a cramped apartment in the city. Every day, he works hard to make a living making fish sauce, always teaching his daughter to live honestly with the philosophy: "Money can be earned back if lost, but reputation, once lost, can never be regained." However, when his daughter fails the entrance exams for two fashion schools – her dream field – he advises her to return and continue the family business. The differences in thinking and lifestyle create rifts between the two generations, promising many touching moments for the audience.
Nha Phuong, 35 years old, originally from Dak Lak, is familiar to audiences through a series of hit films such as "Blood Heart," "49 Days," and "Youth." She married Truong Giang in 2018 after four years together and now has two children. Her continued collaboration with her husband in this new project demonstrates their strong bond not only in their married life but also in their artistic careers.
Truong Giang, 42 years old, originally from Da Nang, rose to fame playing the role of Muoi Kho in the "Footsteps of Central Vietnam" live show in 2011. Since then, he has made his mark in many fields: comedy stage, reality television, MC, and film. Works such as "Taxi, What's Your Name?", "Superstar Super Fool", and "30 Is Not Yet Tet" have helped him solidify his position in the Vietnamese film industry.
Besides "My Father's House, One Room," the Lunar New Year film season of 2026 promises to be vibrant with many other projects. Tran Thanh brings "Tho Oi" (Oh, Little Rabbit) – a psychological drama featuring a cast of young stars such as Lyly, Gil Le, and Ali Hoang Duong. Artist Xuan Hinh collaborates with Thu Trang for the first time in "Mui Pho" (The Scent of Pho), while director Le Thanh Son introduces "Bau Vat Troi Cho" (A Gift from Heaven) starring Tuan Tran and Phuong Anh Dao.
Nha Phuong's appearance as casting director not only piqued audience curiosity but also added appeal to Truong Giang's project. The artistic couple once again demonstrated their strong partnership both in art and life, making fans eagerly anticipate the release of the 2026 Tet film.
Truong Giang is making a Lunar New Year film; will Nha Phuong be given a special role?
Minh Lợi17:08:49 24/12/2025The film quickly attracted attention not only because it marked the comedian's return to the big screen after more than 5 years, but also because it was a rare occasion where Truong Giang and Nha Phuong, a married couple, participated in the project together in important behind-the-scenes roles.
