Pho and Piano and 'Tunnel', projects recreating historical tragedies, are gradually becoming more accepted by young people. Therefore, films recreating the struggle of our people are carefully invested in and released on special occasions.
Red Rain is a feature film about the revolutionary war. The script was written by writer Chu Lai, inspired and fictionalized from the event of 81 days and nights of heroic and resilient fightin.g by the people and cadres and soldiers to protect Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
Those 81 days and nights became legendary, contributing to the victory at the Paris Conference negotiating table, paving the way for the great victory in the spring of 1975, liberating the South and unifying the country.
The film Red Rain by People's Army Cinema tells that heroic story. The teaser trailer released on the morning of April 22 recounts the suffocating atmosphere that caused many casualties among soldiers, losing hundreds of people every day.
The intense and emotional summer of 1972 is told through the young, brave faces of Squad 1 - young men carrying the enthusiasm of their twenties into the battlefield, with all their faith and passionate patriotism.
After the sound of bombs and bullets, the teaser trailer still shows the soldiers' bright, optimistic smiles. In their rare moments of rest, they still write poetry and music like when they were still in the classroom.
They consider Quang Tri as their hometown, Quang Tri Citadel as their home, their comrades become their relatives. They were just students or farmers, but when the Fatherland needed them, they did not spare their bloo.d, bones and youth, protecting every inch of the Citadel.
All of them were ready to "Be twenty years old and become waves, forever lapping at the shore" (from the poem "Words by the River" by veteran Le Ba Duong). However, "How can one not regret one's twenties/ But if everyone regrets one's twenties, what will be left of the Fatherland?" (from the poem "Seventh Verse" by Thanh Thao).
As one by one they fell, the military doctor (played by Hua Vi Van) had to choke out: "Every day we lose hundreds of people."
Most of the teaser trailer's images are filled with smoke, bombs, painfu.l eyes and fallen bodies, but in the end, the courage behind the saying: "Just let us go to battle, there will be an answer!".
The answer is clear to today's generation - the answer is independence day.
To authentically recreate the historical context of the war at Quang Tri Citadel, the Red Rain film crew built a large-scale studio in Quang Tri town, Quang Tri province, next to the Thach Han river.
A version of the Citadel that is most authentically recreated in terms of geography and morphology with a system of trenches, tunnels, field meeting rooms, surgical stations, defensive fortifications, field airport... All are carefully restored under the advice of veterans and witnesses.
According to the producer, Red Rain is a stick of incense that soldiers today dedicate to show gratitude, remembrance and appreciation to those who sacrificed their youth on the battlefield, their bloo.d and bones for the Fatherland.
"Perhaps few war film crews like "Red Rain" have so many women in the main production team. From the Standing Committee member, Production Director, Director, Sound Director, on-site editor...", director Dang Thai Huyen shared. She described the difficult filming days with TNT explosives, guns and weapons surrounding the women, while the director "gently drew diagrams of the explosives and the explosive effects of the filming set".
What moved director Dang Thai Huyen was the resilience and bravery of the women behind the lens - a place that not only requires high professional skills, but also sensitivity and physical endurance amidst the smoke and fire of a simulated battlefield. "Women who make war films can write a book of very interesting memories," she said in an emotional moment when looking back at the images from the teaser. "When the teaser was released, looking back at a few images... the sisters just sat there looking at each other and laughing. It was all very different. Hopefully when the film is released, it will also be different," director Dang Thai Huyen humorously said.
The Tunnels is causing a stir but still losing mone.y, fans complain that they still don't understand after watching the whole movie, is it about to disappear? Dan Ny16:33:07 15/04/2025The Tunnels is a film that has created a strong buzz since its announcement, and has been nurtured by Director Bui Thac Chuyen for 11 years. Although the project has been widely received and earned huge revenue, the film is still at risk of facing heavy capital losses.
