Recently, "2009" and "341 million" are two numbers that BTS fans in Vietnam pay special attention to.
The seriousness of the incident even attracted the attention of non-fans passing by. Specifically, an ARMY born in 2009 named NH was accused of fraud by a series of other V-ARMYs with a total amount of up to VND 341 million.
The case is causing a stir in the online community. At 10 pm on January 20, a post from a representative of the fan group that was scammed gave an update on the situation. According to this source of information, NH took advantage of the development of groups to exchange and trade idols' albums and goods to scam. NH's method is to sell many photocards, but only pay a few goods. For the remaining orders, the bank creates fake transactions and receives money from the buyer but does not actually import the goods to sell.
According to the above article, the current incident has been initially resolved with the police and NH's family. With the photocard number ordered and available, NH will ship before March 31. In the remaining case, the committed family will be responsible for compensating the buyer. Currently, the V-ARMY community and Kpop fans in Vietnam are still stunned by such a sophisticated and damaging scam caused by a 13-year-old ARMY. This is also a lesson for Kpop fans when making purchases and sales of goods and photocards online.
BTS is a globally famous K-Pop group, but at the same time a lucrative piece of cake that scammers are targeting to profit.
Not long ago, a BTS fangirl named Judy Bae was one of the fans who fell victim to scammers. Specifically, in December 2019, she received a message on Twitter from a fanboy in her 20s. This guy posed as a teenage ARMY, asking to borrow money to buy BTS albums and goodies. He promised to repay Judy Bae's debt. This fangirl generously spent money to help her friend and fandom in need. But in the end, she lost 1 million KRW (812 USD).
Unfortunately, Judy Bae isn't the only one to be fooled. A 27-year-old fan named Jung has started a thread on Twitter to help fans who are victims of scams and have lost money. Among the 30 members of this community, many of the victims are immature. They were tricked into losing a total of 13 million KRW ($10.695 USD).
Teen fangirls are really attractive targets for scammers for a variety of reasons. Taking advantage of the trust of young fans, these guys took the money and disappeared. There are also many KPOp fans who lack basic financial knowledge and become a lucrative prey for online thieves.
Regarding BTS, stage director Van Trinh (a famous name in the profession) recently shared on his personal page a status line related to BTS. Accordingly, he recalled back in 2016, when BTS were still emerging faces, but their return to Vietnam still created a wave of passionate fans from the airport to the stage. The director also said that in November 2019, he went to Korea and went to BTS to ask for an invitation to return to Vietnam in 2020. He said that the BTS side "served enthusiastically" with the implication of an invitation agreement. The world's number 1 boygroup is currently going about Vietnam, which is progressing very well. However, the arrival of the Covid-19 epidemic made all opportunities become lost.
This certainly makes fans in Vietnam regret it because it is clear that compared to 2016, BTS has gone too far to the point of being unbelievable: the world's No. Korea, performing and speaking at the United Nations, a series of international awards, large and small, and consecutive music records were set.
At the end of the article, Director Van Trinh also hinted about a surprise that might happen in 2022: "Will 2022 ever do anything unexpected?". Although it is extremely difficult to invite BTS to Vietnam to perform, it is not impossible, so fans still firmly believe that the 7 famous boys around the world will one day return. back to our country to perform.
