After threatening the staff at the counter, Thang asked the employee to put money in his backpack. Threatened, the bank staff put 2.2 billion dong in the backpack for Thang. Thang saw that his backpack was full of money, so he said "There's no need to spend so much money" and asked the staff to zip the backpack and leave. When leaving, Thang threw a small explosive fruit on the brick floor and said that he had installed a chip, if he reported to the police, he would detonate and lock the door to escape.

When Thang hid in a shopping center, intending to buy a diamond ring, the police discovered and arrested him with the exhibits. However, at the first instance court today (December 21), the female defendant suddenly changed her testimony, insisting that robbing a bank was following a repeated dream. "The defendant wanted to cause a scandal, but he didn't need money. Everything happened he knew first. The defendant intentionally broke into places with many cameras because he wanted to go to jail soon." - The female defendant answered the trial panel.

Before carrying out the bank robbery, this defendant researched legal information as well as was well aware of the illegal acts he caused and the possible punishment.

After that, the representative of the procuracy proposed that the trial panel sentenced Thang to 18-20 years in prison. However, Thang's defense lawyer said that Thang committed the crime but did not cause damage, had a good academic record for 12 years, was a good student... to ask the trial panel to reduce the punishment for the accused. In this regard, the Procuracy said that the defendant did not take the initiative to overcome the consequences. Defendant testified that he did not care about the amount of money stolen. However, before that, Thang had claimed that because the defendant's backpack could only hold that amount of money, if he took more, it could not be locked and easily detected.

Finally, Thang apologized to everyone. The defendant said he accepted everything and had nothing to defend. However, Thang emphasized that he had repented of the crime he had caused. According to the trial panel, the testimony received was consistent with documents and records in the case, enough grounds to conclude that defendant Phung Thi Thang committed a crime of property robbery. The defendant's behavior is especially serious, has infringed on the lawful property rights of others and caused social insecurity and safety, and needs to be handled seriously.

Also according to this newspaper, for the act of making 2 explosives, during the investigation, defendant Thang admitted that 2 explosives had the same shape as bombs (without explosives, detonators and incapable of detonation) to bank robbery. In addition, there are no documents and evidences to identify the two explosives as explosives, so there is no basis to handle the crime of making, storing, transporting, using, trading or appropriating explosives. . Since then, the trial panel has sentenced defendant Thang to the above sentence.
