Fubao is about to have a movie, netizens argue because pandas are being exploited

Even though he has returned to his homeland of China, the Fubao fever in Korea still shows no signs of abating. Netizens are currently divided into two debates about the preparation for the release of a documentary about the "panda princess".

According to Naver, on April 22, Acoms company in Korea said it was producing a special documentary about the panda Fubao. The project is currently temporarily titled Goodbye, Gentlemen , and is expected to hit theaters this fall. The film's content includes the process of Fubao panda being raised at Everland park (Gyeonggi province, Korea) until being brought back to China.

The film is made in a documentary style, combined with some graphic and animated segments. In addition to the story of Fubao and the zoo's caretakers, the crew also interviewed many enthusiastic fans of the "panda princess".

When asked about the possibility of releasing in China, the production team said they aim to bring the film to screen in many international markets. They hope the work will bring beautiful and touching memories to Fubao's fans. However, Fubao fans in Korea recently expressed concern when watching a video posted by the China Panda Conservation and Research Center. The clip shows Fubao continuously rolling around the cage, an action not often seen when "she" is in Korea. However, the Center affirmed that Fubao is completely healthy and is adapting well to the new environment.

Panda Fubao (born 2020) is the first child of mother Ai Bao (born 2013) and father Le Bao (born 2012), two giant pandas brought to Korea by the President of China in March /2016 to symbolize bilateral friendly relations. These three pandas have a huge fan base domestically and internationally.

Fubao returned to his homeland China on the evening of April 3 on a flight from Korea, marking an important turning point in his journey. Fubao was brought back to China to implement a cooperation agreement between China and Korea in the conservation and management of giant pandas.
