In the early morning hours of March 3, a large number of Korean and Japanese fans of Fubao Panda (Fubao) lined up early in the morning at Everland Park (South Korea) to say goodbye before she left for China next month.
Fubao will return to the China Panda Research and Conservation Center on April 3, but has to undergo a month-long quarantine.
During his time in Korea, this panda has received boundless love from both its caregivers and the people here. They call Fubao by adorable nicknames such as "Yongin's Fu Girl", "Fubao Princess" ...
Yonhap News Agency reported that although Everland opened at 10 a.m., a large number of people had been queuing in the cold weather since early morning just to meet this adorable panda on the last day of "work" in Korea.
Although Everland Park has limited each visitor's viewing time to Fu Bao to only about 5 minutes, it still makes visitors excited. Someone even came to the queue at 3:30 a.m. Many people, due to not having much waiting time, were forced to reluctantly leave.
During his time at the Korean Zoo, Fubao was also cared for by two employees, Kang Cheol-won and Song Young-kwan, affectionately known as Mr. Kang and Mr. Song, because they considered Fubao as their niece, always cared for and gave Fu Bao a lot of cute toys.
When people visited Fubao for the last time, many people noticed the sad looks of the two men, Song Bao and Kang Bao. Earlier, there was a video of the two men breaking down in tears as they had to say goodbye to their adorable granddaughter.
Fubao was born on July 20, 2020, the son of pandas Le Bao and Ai Bao, symbolizing the diplomatic friendship between South Korea and China. Under the conservation agreement, pandas sent abroad will be repatriated to China before the age of 4. The successful natural birth of Fubao when the reproduction rate of pandas is low, has attracted the interest and endearment of animal lovers all over the world.
The main reason Fubao was forced to return to her motherland in Sichuan, China was reproduction. With only about 1,800 pandas left in the world, China is taking special management measures.
In an interview with the media, Kang Chul Won, who takes care of pandas in Everland, explained, "The pandas will mature from the age of 4 and have to meet friends of the opposite sex. But in Korea there are only parents and fathers, so Fubao panda returns to meet Chinese pandas."
An Everland official said, "Fubao will return to China to find a partner" and "If Fubao is repatriated, there is very little chance of returning to South Korea." No wonder Korean people are so nostalgic for their last meeting with "youth idols".
"Yongin Poo" Fubao has become one of the most popular animals in Everland, thanks to a video of himself getting close to "Panda Grandfather" Kang Cheol-won (who is in charge of caregiving). The short video on Everland's YouTube channel, 'Dating Grandpa Panda' has recorded 14.77 million views as of December 3.
Fubao's popularity must be on par with international idols, in Korea - China - Japan she has a large fan base. Even Vietnam has its own group, dedicated to updating news about this adorable panda.
