Ahead of the schedule, YG "surprised" to release information and images of the first piece in the new girl group lineup. However, the rookie's profile is causing controversy on forums.
On the evening of May 27 (Vietnam time), YG Entertainment suddenly posted a video on the YouTube channel YG NEXT MONSTER, announcing the first member of the upcoming girl group, a trainee named Evelli , from Australia.
According to the introduction, Evelli was born on March 29, 2010, is 15 years old this year and has been a trainee at YG for 2 years. She is 1m63 tall, and can speak 3 languages (English, Korean, Spanish). Notably, information about MBTI (personality classification) shows that this "rookie" belongs to the ENFJ group, is extroverted, has the qualities of "natural leadership, warm and charismatic".
Therefore, the audience speculates that Evelli is likely to be the leader of the group. While YG announced that she is an "all-rounder", good at both singing and rapping. In the posted video, Evelli appears with a unique look, wearing comfortable sportswear, and a natra bun suitable for her age.
Performing Doechii's "Nosebleeds", the female trainee showed confidence, stage presence, and a powerful rap voice despite being only 15 years old. Therefore, some people think that she will debut as the main rapper of YG's new girl group.
However, the video introducing the first member of the "BABYMONSTER sister" group is causing controversy on forums. Many people commented that Evelli's age and talent alone are quite impressive, but compared to YG's previous female rappers such as CL, Jennie, Lisa or most recently Asa, Ruka, Ahyeon , the "rookie" is clearly inferior when they were all trainees.
However, others noted that Evelli had only been training for two years and was already confirmed to be in the new group. This is unusual for YG - a company whose female idols have always trained for a long time.
The proof is that the 4 BLACKPINK members studied and trained under YG for 4-6 years. The 7 BABYMONSTER members had a training period of 3-6 years, in which the 2 main rappers, Ruka and Asa, were both trained for 6 years before debuting with the group.
The fact that the "big guy" rushed Evelli to debut after only 2 years may be the reason why the audience is skeptical about her skills compared to the general level. But this also shows that the company appreciates the potential and trusts the trainee from the same hometown as Rosé.
Besides her not-so-impressive rapping ability, many people also criticized YG for Evelli's lightning-fast debut. Partly because Evelli is too young, making the average age of rookie Kpop groups increasingly younger. On the other hand, the "big guy" debuted too early when the trainee had not yet perfected her skills, making her easily become a faulty version of BLACKPINK. The audience also said that letting the 2k10 idol perform the song "Nosebleeds" was not age-appropriate.
YG's haste in forming a new girl group has also made fans worried about BABYMONSTER's future. "They've only debuted for over a year and now they're preparing for a new group, will they be abandoned?", one viewer commented.
In fact, after BLACKPINK members terminated their individual contracts one by one, YG rushed to debut BABYMONSTER in an effort to save the company's reputation. However, the musical achievements and popularity of the 7 members were not enough to reassure the "big guy" in the increasingly fierce Kpop market.
In particular, YG groups usually have only 4-5 members, so managing a crowded girl group like BABYMONSTER is a challenge. Not only for girl groups, the activities of boy group TREASURE (10 members) also show the company's ineffective management.
Not to mention, YG's history clearly shows that groups cannot be cared for long term if they do not have a strong momentum. Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER, despite having a good start, has not really made a global mark like BLACKPINK, so it is more likely that they will be kicked out.
Fans expressed hope that YG will reconsider and have a good direction for the group because the members are all talented and could become even more famous if properly invested in and promoted through media.
YG's spectacular revival thanks to BABYMONSTER, TREASURE, revealing a plot to "eradicate" BLACKPINK? Nguyễn Tuyết15:48:01 12/05/2025After the previous steep decline, YG Entertainment turned around thanks to earning a huge amount of money in just the first 3 months of the year. Is this due to a smart investment strategy or is it because of the new replacing the old?
