After the announcement of YG Entertainment's new group, netizens predicted that one name would be included. However, fans of BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER were not very interested in this.
These days, YG has been stirring up public opinion with its plan to launch a new gir.l group while BLACKPINK is preparing for a comeback. Director Yang Hyun Suk said that the gir.l group lineup, consisting of 4 members, has been determined and will introduce each piece to the public one by one. The first gir.l is expected to be announced tomorrow, May 28.
Currently, many rumors about the identities of YG's "rookie" group members have begun to appear on Kpop forums, attracting the attention of many music fans. One prominent name predicted to be in the lineup is ILLIT 's failed member, Youngseo.
Youngseo first became known through her role as a contestant in the survival reality show "RU Next?", organized by JTBC in collaboration with BELIFT LAB (under HYBE Group). In the end, she won 2nd place and qualified to debut as a member of ILLIT.
However, just a few months later, the management company announced that Youngseo had left the group after a mutual agreement to terminate her contract. No specific reason was given for her departure. Later, there were rumors that the female idol had signed with The Black Label, a YG affiliate, and was likely to debut with MEOVV.
Although Youngseo was not included in the lineup, she was said to have appeared near the YG building with many other female trainees. This sparked rumors that the failed ILLIT member was one of the four pieces of the "little sister group BABYMONSTER".
There is still controversy over whether Youngseo is really a YG trainee or not. However, many people are still showing support for the female idol if she officially debuts in YG's "rookie" group. Because Youngseo has proven her talent and outstanding appearance since participating in "RU Next?". Her withdrawal from the group ILLIT once made many fans regret.
Notably, according to producer Yang Hyun Suk, the company is considering releasing solo songs for each member of the new gir.l group next year. He further noted that the decision to form a four-member group was based on their "great chemistry."
The announcement from YG surprised many people, because BABYMONSTER has only debuted and been active for more than a year. Not to mention, the "big guy" rarely launches groups so close together, especially those of the same gender. The most obvious is that the first gir.l group - 2NE1 debuted in 2009, 7 years later the second group - BLACKPINK was born and most recently BABYMONSTER also debuted 7 years after its seniors.
In response to questions, Yang Hyun Suk explained that YG has recently restructured its management approach in response to fan concerns about "YG artists releasing albums too late" in their careers. He admitted that it is acceptable for groups to "promote simultaneously" rather than waiting for a staggered order.
Yang Hyun Suk reflected on why he was hesitant to debut BABYMONSTER while BLACKPINK was still actively promoting. With this, he hinted that YG now intends to speed up the debut of the new group and allow multiple artists to promote at the same time. However, the "big guy" taking on too many tasks still makes fans worried that he will be overloaded.
As of recently, Edaily reported that BLACKPINK has begun preparing for a full-group comeback in the second half of this year, under the direct guidance of Yang Hyun Suk. According to news from the music industry, the group completed the photoshoot for the album cover at a location in Seoul (South Korea) last week.
While Yang Hyun Suk is putting all his heart and soul into this album, the cover photoshoot is also said to be of global scale. This is BLACKPINK's first comeback in about 3 years, since the release of their second full-length album "Born Pink".
The fact that producer Yang is directly supervising the activities this time shows that YG is paying a lot of attention to BLACKPINK's comeback. However, the company is currently being criticized by the 4 girls' fans for not clearly announcing their schedules and plans.
