Although he was respected by many people, when he was a son of heaven, he was recognized as a son of heaven, but this emperor Dong Chih of the Qing dynasty let himself get entangled in the path of depravity, suffering from gonorrhea because of his love of lust. sex.

Dong Tri (1856-1875) full name is Ai Tan Giac La Tai Thuan. He is the eldest son and only prince of Emperor Ham Phong and Concubine Y Diep Hac Na La Thi (later Empress Dowager Ci Hi).

When he was 3 years old, British and French troops attacked Beijing, Emperor Ham Phong fled in fear to the Nhiet Ha palace, and the Qing dynasty began to become weak under the threat of Western countries.

When he was 5 years old, Tai Thuan was appointed crown prince and ascended the throne in July of the same year. His biological mother was appointed Empress Dowager Cixi, and Ham Phong's queen was appointed Empress Dowager Tu An.

Because Tung Chih ascended the throne when he was too young, his biological mother, Empress Dowager Cixi, took advantage of the opportunity to "take down the regency curtain" and take all power into her own hands. Including plotting to murder 8 high-ranking officials in the court (Prince Di Tai Vien, Prince Trinh Doan Hoa, Minister of the Household Ministry Tuc Thuan, Minister Ngach Canh Tho, Secretary of the Ministry of Military Affairs Muc Am, Lai Bo Ta Thi Lang Khuong Nguyen , Martial servant Do Han, Thai servant Thieu Khanh (title Tieu Huu Doanh) and overwhelmed the famous gentle Queen Tu An.

Perhaps that's why Tung Chih became closer and closer to Queen Mother Tu An. She even listened to Queen Mother Tu An and chose A Lo Dac as Queen. Meanwhile, the person chosen by Tu Hi he only appointed Tue Phi. After Tung Chih got married, Cixi had to hand over all power to her son, which is why Empress Dowager Cixi hated both her son and Empress Dowager Ci An.

The year Tung Chih was about to reach his 18th birthday, both mothers, Empress Dowager Cixi and Empress Dowager Tu An, began to worry about the young Emperor's marriage. After carefully choosing, Empress Dowager Tu Hy decided to choose the daughter of Great Minister Phuong Tu.

However, Tu An had other ideas. This gentle Queen Mother chose the young daughter of the village chief Sung Khoi. Although this girl is not exceptionally beautiful, her appearance is dignified, gentle, and looks like a kind person. After much debate, the choice was finally left to Emperor Tung Chih to decide.

Although Tung Tri was Tu Hy's biological child, he often lived with his mother, but because Tu Hy was very strict, Tung Tri feared her more than he loved her. Meanwhile, Tu An was a gentle man with little ambition and was very popular with the Emperor. That's why, when hearing the two Queen Mothers make their choices, Dong Tri thought for a long time and then only said 3 words: A Lo Dac. A Lo Dac is the child of Thi Lang Sung Khoi, the girl Tu An chose in the hope that Dong Tri would have a virtuous wife.

However, this choice of his was an unforgivable opposition to Tu Hy. Therefore, Empress Dowager Ci Xi began to hate A Lo Dac as well as Tung Tri and Tu An from then on. She even banned Queen A Lo Dac from being intimate with Dong Tri, and forced him to be regularly close to Concubine Hue, the daughter chosen by Tu Hy.

Empress Dowager Cixi's separation of Tung Chih and A Lu Dac's feelings not only did not help her regain Tung Chih's feelings. On the contrary, Cixi's prohibition and coercion made Tung Chih resent and hate her more.

There was a time when Dong Tri was angry, hugged the blanket and went to Can Thanh Palace to sleep alone. Seeing that Tung Chih was bored and miserable every day, the eunuchs took the opportunity to seduce and secretly take the young Emperor out of the palace to a brothel in the capital to have fun. The history of the Qing Dynasty also clearly recorded that there were many times when Dong Tri went out overnight and could not return early for the adoration. Empress Dowager Tu Hy scolded her, but just two days later, everything was "in order".

Due to debauchery, Tung Chih quickly collapsed. Only 20 years old, Dong Trinh's health was very weak, his lower body was constantly swollen. However, Dong Tri didn't care, clicked his tongue and continued with his all-night partying.

Until October 21, the 13th year of Tung Tri, i.e. 1874, when arriving at Tay Uyen garden, Tung Tri was hit by a cold wind and developed a strange illness. At first, my body only felt a little tired and uncomfortable, however, the next day, my illness got worse and worse, I was paralyzed in bed and couldn't get up. The royal doctors in the palace were fully mobilized and diagnosed the disease collectively, however, each person spoke differently, no one came to a final conclusion. Meanwhile, Tung Chih's condition worsened day by day, and the royal doctors in the palace were forced to be on duty in case of emergency.

Ten days later, Dong Tri's illness suddenly became more severe, his limbs had no strength, his whole body was limp, he had a high fever, and many red spots appeared on his body. Empress Dowager Tu Hy was startled when she heard the news, thinking it was smallpox. The royal doctors in the palace did not dare to say it clearly, however, everyone knew that the disease that Tung Tri suffered from was no more scary than smallpox: it was gonorrhea.

Because he did not receive proper treatment, Tung Chih's health became increasingly worse. The red bumps on his body began to fester and smell extremely foul. Instead of worrying about her son who was seriously ill in bed, Empress Dowager Cixi felt this was an opportunity for her to regain power and take over the court. She sent high-ranking mandarins to Tung Chih's convalescence, allowing them to see with their own eyes the emperor's stinking body after several months of being tormented by illness.

Serious illness and no one to take care of him, he could only endure more than a day later, on December 5, 1874, Dong Trinh passed away in pain and resentment when he was only 20 years old.
