Manh Tu Nghia "transformed" in the drama movie, his co-star was too suitable for the role of a boy

After only 5 days of broadcasting, Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son showed obvious signs of failure when the number of viewers per day did not exceed 20 million â a modest number, only half of the Nhat Mong Library, the film was screened at the same time.
According to Sohu, the reason why the work did not meet expectations came from the lack of a tight script and the unconvincing performance of the two main actors Manh Tu Nghia and Luu Hoc Nghia.
The film revolves around the character Khuong Dao Hoa (played by Meng Tu Nghia) â a disgraced princess of Bac Uyen who is taken to reconcile, but due to an incident, she is refused a kiss and then has to become the concubine of Left General Shen Tai Da (played by Liu Xue Nghia). The plot is commented to embrace too many elements such as revenge, power, intrigue and clan struggle, but lacks the necessary consistency and depth.
One of the most controversial points is the logic in building the plot. It is difficult for the audience to accept that a princess of a country can easily become a concubine of an official, regardless of how powerful that person is. Many segments in the film are considered forced, unrealistic and not groundbreaking. Some opinions also said that the script borrowed many details from Pearl Curtain Chau Sa, a film that once attracted attention with the participation of Trieu Lo Tu and Luu Vu Ninh.
Not only the content is disappointing, the sound and staging of the plot episodes in Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son are also commented as "excessive". The scenes were staged to create a sense of tension but became ridiculous because of the inappropriate soundtrack, the lack of a tight plot and the unconvincing plot. Many viewers even find it funny in the passages that are oriented as climaxes and suspense.
With a historical film with complex characters like Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son, the actor's ability to express emotions is a decisive factor. However, Meng Tu Nghia did not meet expectations. Her acting was judged to be lacking in emotion, stiff face, unnatural crying scenes and the way the character was presented in a one-color way that made the audience not feel psychological depth. On Douban, some harsh comments said that she "only looks but doesn't know acting", even being likened to a "poor copy" of the character Dou Chieu in Cuu Trong Tu.
In contrast to the female lead, the villain played by Hoang Mong Oanh received positive feedback. Her brilliant acting, depth and outstanding shape help her character become vivid and make a strong impression.
Meanwhile, Luu Hoc Nghia's acting, although not underestimated, also did not create a highlight. The character of Shen Tai Da played by him was commented to be not much different from the role of Mo Dung Canh Hoa in Xuan Hoa Diem, making viewers feel bored. Although built as an introverted and powerful character, the lack of emotion makes the role faint. In particular, when standing next to Manh Tu Nghia, the difference in temperament and chemistry makes the relationship between the two main characters even more unconvincing.
Many viewers frankly expressed the incompatibility of the main couple, saying that when Luu Hoc Nghia and Meng Tu Nghia stood next to each other, they looked like "uncles and grandchildren", even though in fact they were only 5 years apart. This opinion highlights the gap in temperament and style between the two actors, which is expected to be the highlight of the film. Some viewers also think that Luu Hoc Nghia should consider carefully before continuing to play the male lead in the romance historical drama series, instead choosing roles that are more suitable for his current image and acting ability.
On the Douban platform, Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son encountered a series of negative reviews, mainly revolving around three outstanding problems: illogical script, unsatisfactory acting and unconvincing image quality. Most of the comments gave low scores, reflecting the frustration of viewers.
[1 Star] "The actor has an edited appearance, but the temperament is not suitable, the acting is rigid, the script is old. This is an ancient set that follows the old path, there are no new points."
[1 Star] "Manh Tu Nghia has an aesthetic hotgirl style, making the character unnatural. Luu Hoc Nghia is more suitable for a supporting role, when starring is quite faint. The movie as a whole is too poor."
[2 stars] "The plot is absurd â a princess is resigned to being a concubine? The content is like a joke."
[2 stars] "Liu Xueyi is like repeating himself in Xuan Hua Diem, and Meng Ziyi is like a lifeless copy of Dou Chieu. It's all pale and emotionless."
[3 stars] "The dubbing doesn't sound real, causing emotions to be interrupted. The main pair failed to create a chemical reaction, and Liu Xue Nghia was even more suitable for Ngo Can Ngan. The film fails from the content to the actors."
Despite gathering a cast that is highly appreciated for its appearance, Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son still could not overcome the barriers of script and acting, leading to less positive feedback from viewers.
Despite owning a cast that is highly appreciated for its appearance, Dao Hoa Anh Giang Son still cannot be saved when the plot lacks creativity, the acting is disappointing and there is no connection between the character lines. This is a good example of how appearance cannot bear a work that lacks depth and emotion.
