Death in the Air is the first Vietnamese action film to exploit the theme of hijacking, inspired by the real plane hijacking in 1978 - which is causing a box office fever with impressive sales.
The work is led by director Ham Tran, with the participation of famous actors such as Thai Hoa, Thanh Son, Kaity Nguyen and Bao Dinh...
In addition to the tense action scenes, the film also attracts the audience thanks to the appearance of a couple with an age difference - Mouse (Tieu Bao Quoc) and Cat (Thien Tu) - bringing relaxing laughter.
Recently, actress Thien Tu (who plays Cat) revealed some surprising information behind the scenes, especially about the "fatal" props that contributed to the success of the film.
The actress said that in fact, the durian in the film is made of rubber, because she couldn't use the fruit as a prop when she was filming for a while. However, this durian still has a certain weight. After that, Thien Tu gave the props to Thai Hoa. He couldn't help but exclaim: "Oh my God, this also hurts a lot, why doesn't it hurt, this one is hard."
Thien Tu shared: "In order to get the costume shape like in the movie but at the right time, the film crew and costume team had to rummage through all antique shops everywhere."
She likened the costume area to a "mobile shop" with a full range of clothes, shoes, accessories, including many unique items such as the earrings of the Cat character are antiques.
The third secret that Thien Tu revealed is the scenes of the plane shaking and rushing in the movie. She said that all these shaky scenes were done in a "sophisticated" way.
Initially, the actor who sat the test felt shaking "or good, like some swing train games in the park", but when he looked out, he discovered that the whole crew was using pushing force to create the most realistic effect.
Thien Tu said that the crew tried to restore all the props to look like the real plane. At the same time, the entire scene of planes and airports in Death in the Air is actually done with technical effects, and all of this is made by a team that is 100% Vietnamese.
According to director Ham Tran, he said aircraft space - where most events occur - is one of the biggest challenges. The film crew spent about two months preparing the model with a budget of two billion VND. The DC-4 was restored on set at a 1:1 ratio, with only the aisle widened for action scenes.
The aircraft was required to be designed in the late 1970s in terms of color and cabin size. The team set the criteria that the engine compartment must be able to vibrate mechanically, not rely on graphics. They use a swivel shaft system, in addition to 10 more people standing outside to support the push. Initially, art director Thai Hoang Anh Dung was afraid of danger, so he only shook it 30 degrees. When he sat down to try it, he found that it was still too light, Ham Tran suggested increasing it to 60 degrees.
The above sharing quickly received great attention from the audience. Under the comment section, many people expressed their interest:
"The film is very dramatic, but there are a couple of Cat and Mouse as a laughing point, reducing the tension for the whole theater."
"Next, I'm really behind the scenes, find another place where I don't have it."
"That's why I see that the Vietnamese team is too top-notch."
