Thanks to nail polish, Charlie Ton Quy has created an empire in the nail industry in the US. He became a successful role model, a source of pride in the hearts of his expatriate children.

Charlie Ton Quy (real name Ton That Khuong Quy), was born on 22/6/1970 in Qui Nhon, Vietnam. Sun Quy was the 2nd son in a family of four brothers. His father was a soldier, and his mother worked as a freelance merchant. In 1986, after finishing grade 8 in Vietnam, Ton Quy came to Louisiana alone at the age of 14 and adopted his American name Charlie Ton Quy.

As a 15-year-old b.oy, Quy was sent to the US by his parents, hoping he would have a better future in his hometown of Nha Trang. After a period of staying at relatives' houses, Mr. Quy had to "leave the dust" because of his difficult life.

In a foreign country, Mr. Quy survives by working for restaurants and helping out for some families. Filled with disappointment, Mr. Quy always told himself to finish the high school program, go to public schools, where he could participate without paying tuition fees.

At the age of 18, the young man eagerly enrolled in an aerospace major at the University of Louisiana, but since the school did not have this department, he had to switch to chemistry. Mr. Quy could not have expected that that choice would open him up to the opportunity to become a big boss many years later. After many years of study, in 1995 he graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University. At the same time he was also married at this time.

He worked for 5 years in the honeybee research department. When he finished college, he couldn't find a job. And Charlie Sun Quy decided to venture into the market with his small capital.

In difficult times, he always had his wife by his side to help. Because his wife opened a nail salon, Charlie came up with the idea of opening a place to supply equipment and chemicals for other nail salons. Charlie Ton Quy decided to set up Alfalfa Nails Supply and sell products to local nail salons.

At the same time, Charlie Ton Quy met Bo Huynh, another native of Vietnam, who was planning to open a shopping mall and realized it was too complicated. Both realized they needed a partner to make this happen.

Sun Quy then developed a system that handled site acquisition, design, furniture and installation of everything needed to run a franchise chain. He also assumes full responsibility for management, development, growth, planning and output control.

After that, Sun Quy began meeting with supermarket leaders to persuade them to lease the location to open Regal Nails. For the first time, big bosses flatly rejected Sun Gui's proposal because they didn't think the model could succeed.

Not giving up for two years, when he learned that a shop in the supermarket was out of business, Mr. Quy seized the opportunity and returned to apply for a contract. And in 1997, the owner of Regal Nails opened the first nail salon in a supermarket. On average, Regal Nails, Salon and Spa bring in more than $320 million in revenue each year. With the franchise form, Regal Nails has 100 full-time employees and about 5,000 employees.

Mr. Quy believes that this system attracts a large number of visitors thanks to attentive care, ensuring hygiene and safety conditions. In addition, there are many new products and techniques to appeal to women. The most prominent is the DreaMau nail polish color dispenser invented by Mr. Quy, helping guests choose many colors to their liking. All these factors are thanks to the background that Mr. Quy accumulated in chemistry.

At its peak in 2010, Regal Nails had more than 1,000 salons. After that, Mr. Quy was more cautious in choosing partners to minimize risks in opening new salons. There are currently 900 nail and beauty salons covering supermarkets in the US and Canada

In addition, Ton Quy began selling franchises to his Vietnamese compatriots in the United States and within 10 years, the total number of his franchise stores had reached nearly 1,200 spread across the United States. From an immigrant with empty hands, Charlie built Regal Nails into the largest nail empire in America. In addition, Alfalfa Nails Supply has 60 employees and owns 8 warehouses. They have a total of 10,000 salon guests. As a result, Charlie Sun Quy quickly became a dollar billionaire, had a rich life, enjoyed expensive and lavish services.

It is known that Charlie Ton Quy's Regal Nails does not publish revenue and profit figures, but some sources r.eveal that the annual revenue of the whole Regal Nails system reaches skyrocketing figures. According to Nails magazine, if calculated separately, each nail salon of Charlie Ton Quy has an average revenue of about 34,000 USD / month. Therefore, Mr. Quy's Regal Nails will have an annual revenue of about 450 to 500 million USD / year. This revenue is indeed not a small number only for nail care and manicure and pedicure in the US.

Success with the nail industry is so, but Sun Quy has no intention of allowing himself to rest. In 2013, seeing an opportunity in the coffee market, he decided to venture out again. Therefore, the idea of opening a café surrounded by aquariums so that coffee drinkers can watch fish, satisfy curiosity called Charlie's Coffee was born.

Currently, out of a total of 6 Charlie's Coffee stores, 2 are opened right in the shopping area.

True to his business principle, Sun Quy believes that making m.oney is only part of the story, the greatest joy for him as well as most other entrepreneurs comes from generating ideas, turning them into success and generating revenue.

Charlie Sun Quy is living a happy life with his wife and two daughters. His mother is 70 years old, so she is only in Vietnam. Long time to visit children and grandchildren. His father died a few years ago.
