The emotional story of Mr. Oanh's journey to find his son made many people unable to hold back their tears. Fortunately, after 26 years of separation, the whole family was reunited in bursts of happiness.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung (living in Tan Thanh district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) sent to the program "As if there was never a separation" a letter expressing his desire to find his lost family.
In the letter, he wrote: "I watched the program "As if there was never a breakup", seeing many families reunited with each other was very emotional. Today, I am writing this letter, hoping for help the program's support, helping me find my loved ones that I've always wanted.
I would like to tell my story as follows: 28 - 29 years ago, my hometown was in the North. I don't know why my family moved to Ca Mau that year. I remember there was a canal in front of the house, there were some plows and I still went up there to play. My father took me everywhere he went.
That time, I didn't know where to go, but my father took me with him. I was in the middle of the road when I got sick, my father took me to the hospital in Saigon. The year I was lost I was very young, only 8-9 years old, my memories of my family are very few. I have an older sister named Hue, a younger brother and another person named Oanh but I don't remember who it is ...".
Coincidentally, the program also received a search registration letter from the family of Ms. Tran Thi Hoa and Mr. Tran Xuan Oanh, wishing to find a son, Mr. Tran Van Dung (born in 1971).
They were originally from Nam Dinh, and in 1979, they moved to Minh Hai province (now split into two provinces of Ca Mau and Bac Lieu) to do new business.
After a year, because of economic difficulties, Mrs. Hoa and Mr. Oanh decided to take Dung back to her hometown, asking her grandparents to take care of her. That summer, Mr. Oanh took his son to the North. Going to Binh Trieu station (HCMC), Dung had a stomachache. Mr. Oanh rented a cyclo to take his son to Nguyen Trai hospital.
In the hospital for a few days, Dung was cured, but in Mr. Oanh's body, there was not a single penny left. Unfortunately, he had to send his children to two nuns in the bed next to him and then returned home to pay for the hospital bills. A few days later, Mr. Oanh did not see his son anymore. When asked at the hospital, it was said that Dung had been led away by two nuns.
Losing his child, Mr. Oanh was extremely distressed and panicked. When he returned home, he did not dare to say anything, nor did he dare to return to Nam Dinh. It was not until Mrs. Hoa sent a letter to her hometown that she realized that her son had been lost. Mr. Oanh was distraught, ran away from home and lost his memory, just wandered around, begging for food wherever he was.
A few months later, his family found him and had to keep him in prison. During all these years, his family took him to many places for treatment, from the South to the North, but it was not satisfactory. It was not until 2006, when the disease was in remission, that Mr. Oanh regained consciousness. When asked about the story of the lost child, he still remembers the same as the first time.
During the years Mr. Oanh fell ill, Ms. Hoa was all alone looking for her husband, finding children, and taking care of her husband's illness. Their two daughters, Hue and Dung, were only ten years old when they became the main workers. Until Mr. Oanh recovered from his illness, the family's suffering was relieved. They live in Vinh Hau district, Bac Lieu province.
Finally, Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung is Mr. Tran Van Dung - the lost son of Mr. Oanh, Mrs. Hoa. In November 2008, Mr. Dung was reunited with his parents. The reunion with his family was miraculous because Mr. Oanh and Mrs. Hoa herself, when sending a search registration letter, also had a very slim hope of finding her child.
Meeting with her son, Mr. Oanh, Mrs. Hoa learned the truth of the past. When he was discharged from the hospital, Mr. Dung was taken by two nuns to a temple in Vung Tau. But then he left, ran into the street and met a man. This person adopted Mr. Dung and brought him to the foster home. It was also his adoptive parents who registered to find his biological parents.
Previously, Mr. Dung went to find his biological parents. However, Minh Hai province was later split into Ca Mau and Bach Lieu. He searched for Ca Mau, but his parents were in Bac Lieu, so the search yielded no results. By the time he found a family, Mr. Dung had a wife, children, and a stable life.
Reuniting with his family, knowing the reason why his father let him stay in the hospital in the past and then left without seeing him back, knowing the whole story of his father, because of shock, he became a fool for 26 years, Mr. Dung was choked with emotion. . He and his mother returned to their homeland to visit the old village. Every year, he arranges time and work to go from Ba Ria - Vung Tau to Bac Lieu to visit his parents and siblings.
