The father of "Dragon Ball" - Akira Toriyama dies at the age of 68

According to The Guardian, Akira Toriyama died on March 1 due to an acute subdural hematoma. This information is confirmed by Bird Studio, the manga (manga) company founded by Toriyama in 1983.

In a press release, company representatives said they will forever remember Akira Toriyama's "unique creative world."

"We deeply regret that he still has some unfinished works in the creative process with great enthusiasm. There was much more he could do.

He left the world many manga titles and artworks. Thanks to the support of audiences around the world, he has been creating for more than 45 years," the press release read.

Bird Studio said Toriyama's funeral was held discreetly according to the artist's wishes. The family does not accept flowers, offerings or condolence gifts. The company and his relatives have no plans to pay tribute to the audience.

Toriyama died of acute subdural hematoma (a condition in which a hematoma forms under the dural within 72 hours of injury), according to Dragon Ball's X account.

Unfortunately, it seems that Toriyama was working on a lot of projects at the time of his death and one of them is the Dragon Ball Super manga as well as the upcoming Dragon Ball: DAIMA anime.

Akira Toriyama was born in 1955 in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He began his writing career with the manga "Wonder Island" in 1979. He later gained traction with the story "Dr. Slump" (1980-1984) for which he received an award.

In 1984, he launched the Dragon Ball series. This work quickly made a big splash all over the world.

The Dragon Ball is associated with Mr. Toriyama's name, which is one of the best-selling manga series with 35 million copies sold in Japan and 500 million copies sold globally.

He continued to create this series from 1984 - 1995. A total of 519 chapters or 42 volumes, each volume is approximately 200 pages.

The series became a hit with 35 million copies sold in Japan alone. The work reached the top best-selling series with over 500 million copies worldwide. The series was also very successful both in America and in Latin American countries. In a poll, Dragon Ball is one of the most classic (animated) anime in the world.

For years afterward, Toriyama continued to build the Dragon Ball brand until his last breath. He and the team developed Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Sand Land, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero in both the story and the film.

In a career spanning about 46 years (1978 - 2024), he drew dozens of one-shot stories, many short series and two full-length series Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball. After the success with Dragon Ball, he no longer drew long stories but only one-shot stories, and also worked on character and script designs for various games. In addition, Toyotarou's Dragon Ball Super is being released in Japan from 2015 until now, also written by him and some dialogues.

Dragon Ball is the childhood of many comic book lovers in many countries including Vietnam. The story revolves around Son Goku's life, adventures with a group of friends in search of dragon balls, battles against evil, humorous episodes ... is a memorable memory for many people.
