Recently on the YG Family website, the "giant" of the Korean entertainment industry gave an official response regarding the issue of BLACKPINK illegally distributing photos and clips with unhealthy content using deepfakes.

Specifically, YG Entertainment said, "We are very seriously aware of the situation of inappropriate deepfake (AI-based video) content production and distribution that is constantly being created and affecting our artists.

We are monitoring the spread of malicious illegal activities, working to remove/block videos containing this content, and taking all possible legal action, including criminal proceedings.

We are committed to taking strong and strict action against any violation of the law that seriously damages the personality and reputation of our artists. Thank you."

Although YG is only generally our artists, many people still wonder, are they protecting all the "pet chickens" under their leadership, or just BLACKPINK and forgetting the young "rookies" who debuted not long ago? We affirm that we will not stand still when the rights of artists are violated and will act drastically to solve this problem to the maximum. Thank you."

It is known that deepfake is a term that refers to photos, videos or audio edited by artificial intelligence taken from content on social networks or other media without the consent of the owner and distributed online.

According to the Security Hero report shared by the Wall Street Journal, South Korea is the country most vulnerable to the spread of criminal sensitive content in the digital space. Accordingly, 96,000 videos from 10 deepfake dark websites and 85 deepfake channels on video-sharing platforms were analyzed in two months, 53% of the individuals appearing in the movie 18 deepfakes were Korean singers and actors.
